At the Pokémon school on Melemele island, there was a boy named Jesse Tutergan. He was the son of an important researcher on the island. All that intelligence has passed on to Jesse, and he was a very smart kid at the school. His father researched Ultra Wormholes, and his son researched the habitats of Pokémon. Although he has had so much research on Pokémon, he doesn't have his own partner Pokémon. His friends judge him for it, but he says he doesn't mind, yet inside his head, he secretly wants one but doesn't know which one to get for his own.
