I sat uncomfortably in the waiting room chair once more. Only this time, Harry – yes the famous Harry Styles, from that boy band One Direction or whatever – sat on the opposite side of me.
We had been sitting around for the most awkward and painful twenty minutes of my life. After the outburst that we had in Zachary’s office, he told us to leave so he could take care of some things before setting Harry and I off into the world as a ‘couple’. We argued at once of course, our voices constantly trying to rise above the others and be heard, but Zachary had calmly pointed to the door, where a new body guard had appeared along with the first. I watched wide eyed as Harry’s arm was grabbed roughly from behind him, before someone suddenly grabbed mine as well. We were dragged to the door and thrown out of the room, Harry being pushed so hard that he fell to his knees.
Harry got up off the ground and brushed off his pants before finding a seat and falling into it, muttering quiet curses along the way. I had looked around the room, trying to find a way to escape and leave this mess behind me, but everywhere I looked there were even more ‘large men with sunglasses and stern looks’ standing around. Besides, from the speech Zachary gave me earlier, I had a feeling I could no longer run and hide from him before he would eventually find me.
So I had found a seat and stared at Harry, trying to take everything in, and from the way he kept knitting his eyebrows together in confusion and giving me a quizzical look before his eyes would dart away, told me he was probably wondering the same things.
We were forced to sit and ‘patiently’ wait. But of course, that didn’t mean we had to talk or get along or anything. Neither Harry nor I made even one attempt to converse with the other.
Minutes ticked away and I shifted in my seat awkwardly, noticing how where once these seats had been pleasant, now they were awkward and uncomfortable.
That’s when I heard a door opening, and I perked up, hoping it was Zachary finally calling us back in so we could finish whatever the hell he wanted done, and get out of here.
“Oh, Harry! I didn’t know you were coming in today!” I heard an annoying nasal voice from behind me, and I turned to see the skinny blonde receptionist coming back into the room. I had honestly wondered why she wasn’t there when we came back out, but to say I was upset by her disappearance would have been a lie. I sighed and rolled my eyes when she quickly ran up to Harry - how anyone moves that fast in heels I’ll never know - and plopped herself down on the arm of his chair.
“How have you been, hun?” She said chomping her ever present gum and playing with a lock of her perfectly curled hair.
“Could be better, honestly. What about you, Katharine?” Harry said turning to smile at the woman, but I caught his subtle jab at me. I clenched my teeth, trying not to interrupt and say something rude, when I suddenly noticed Harry’s whole attitude changed. What, just five seconds ago, had been a pouty child was, just like that, a handsome and suave man. It was as if he flicked a light switch and turned on the charm in the blink of an eye.
“I’m doing just fine, love. Don’t worry about me; I can take care of myself.” Katharine said giving Harry a not-so-subtle wink, and I fought the urge to gag. She was beyond desperate, and it was way too obvious. She wasn’t even trying to hide it… god I hate these kinds of people.
“Oh, I know you can.” He laughed off her comment and gave her a bright smile, that interestingly enough wouldn’t reach his eyes. Katharine didn’t seem to notice or care and she wasted no time at all in responding with an annoying giggle.
“You’re such a charmer, Harry Styles.” She breathed, lightly shoving Harry’s shoulder.
“I can be, I guess.” He said innocently. Katharine smirked and leaned so that her mouth was only inches from his ear.
