Our story begins with a man named Jonathan Valor. A foreign Prince married to the daughter of the ruler of the tiny land of Gielinor. He found favor in the eyes of God and The Lord blessed this man abundantly, eventually making he and his bride king and queen of the land. One day God requests he build a city, a city dedicated to the goodness and the pureness of Christ. Jonathan builds the city and after fifteen long years it is completed. The city is the most beautiful in the land, being pure white. It is named Falador, The Great White City. The city and land, are to be dedicated to God, and all the people are to be taught of His love and sacrifice! But the heart of Jonathan grows evil as the power bestowed on him tempts him away from God, and instead of dedicating the city to The Lord, he dedicates it to pagan gods, and starts following the pagan religion of the land, forgetting his God and his Savior. In The Lords anger He sends a prophet to the, now, not so new king.

"Sire, a man claiming to be sent of God has requested your presence." I take a bite into my apple and ask him the obvious question he should of already answered.

          "Which god squire? Be specific!"

"He says hes been sent by the ONLY God."

"Hmm, isn't that interesting, send the peasant in." The squire exits and a balding man walks in. "What do you need?"

"You have done evil in the sight of God."

          "Which god?"

"The God of whom you were brought up to serve, in your land far away. Your parents raised you in the knowledge that Jesus Christ of Israel died an execution to pardon you from your sins."

"Ah yes, I remember the religion of my birth."

"God instructed you to build a city in His honor, and you dedicated it to gods you made up! God still loves you though, you were once a loyal servant and He hopes you will return unto Him.

I start to speak, but the little old man cuts me off. "But, as punishment for your disobedience, and for putting other Gods before yours, in not to many years from now, your country will be torn with war, and your kingdom shall be lit on fire! Your walls will be torn, your country shall fight itself, and innocent blood shall be shed. And from now until God returns it unto you, you and your seed after you shall be named Vain, and not Valor. For everything that is done shall be done in Vain, until your seed realizes that it cannot do without The Lord Almighty. But have no fear, the kingdom will not be taken from your family, many of Gods people will be killed, but many more will find salvation as a result, therefore all of your sons shall reign."

With this the prophet leaves and the king repents, but its to late to save his kingdom. He lives the rest of his life waiting for the civil war that would tear his kingdom in half but never sees it. God blesses him with son named Edward, but in his stress of waiting for the war and planning for the war, he neglects the young boy and he grows up with no father. This boy grows up into a strong man and eventually takes over the kingdom and becomes to the new king. Without the proper upbringing Edward never truly learned about Christ in the way a Christian father should of taught him, so instead he chooses the pagan gods of old, gods of war and violence. He begins attacking neighboring lands, expanding Gielinor into a huge country. The king is famed, but never finds exactly what he wants. Among his many wives he has only two sons, and one daughter, the sons being named Danny and Edward the second, and the daughter being named Susan. Susan was born first, but the unhappy father immediately begins making the girl work as a servant, neglecting her as his daughter and all but pretending she doesn't exist. fifteen or so years later he has his first son, Danny, and a couple years later, his second Edward. He would also neglect these to boys, forcing them to train in the arts of war. These two young men would see a kingdom burn, and a new one lit on fire!

Writers note: I'd just like to say I hope you enjoy this book, it is the first in a series. This book looks at Danny Vains past, and the second looks at his future (Upon an Hours Rest). I pray God uses this book to bless you in some way, as I'm know it has me. And I pray that you enjoy yourself reading and maybe even learn from the mistakes of a pagan king who sees the light. I guess the moral of this story is it doesn't matter what you do, God will always love you, and He will always want you! Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of The Lord shall be saved. God bless :D
