MIKOTO X READER

'Promise me, you'll keep your red shining forever?'

Bright [e/c] irises begged silently for him. Honey coloured ones slowly closed in defeat.

'I... Promise.'

There it went again. The same words repeated in front of him.

'I love your red. Promise you'll show it to me forever?'

He swallowed slightly. He didn't want to promise. The last time he did he made her cry already. He didn't want Anna to cry either. She was enough. She was the first and last to suffer.

'Mikoto?'

He snapped back to reality, his words slipping out.

'Promise.'

How did he regret after seeing the little girl smile so brightly.

The last time he promised to keep his aura, he burned the only person that mattered so much in his life. She burned because of him. Now it didn't matter. She wouldn't be able to remember him anymore. The doctors told him, her family told him. He didn't want to promise anymore.

But why was she in front of him again?

'I want to be part of Homra. Let me join!'

It was clear she didn't remember him, or she would have dashed off in complete and utter fear. He was hesitant. Will his flames accept her this time? Or will they burn her again?

His hand ignited itself in red aura as the girl reached out to shake his hand. A firm but gentle hold.

His heartbeat sped. She was accepted.

'With this, I'm your loyal pawn my King.'

But now, with this silver light coming towards him, it didn't matter anymore. It really didn't.

'I have always loved you. You won't remember our promise, but it's okay. I loved you.'

'MIKOTO!'

'Promise.'

Everything red had died along with the Red King.
