I walked as fast as I could through the school, eager to just get home and away from people. It was the end of my very first week of high school and to say it was bad would be the understatement of the century. It was horrible, absolutely awful. I knew I wasn’t the coolest kid, but I never realised I was lame enough to actually get bullied.

All week, the older kids would pick on me and tease me during lunch and in between walks to and from classes. It wasn’t anything physical, but I was still frightened for my life, because I had no idea when it would start to be.

As I made it out of the front double doors of the school, I heard somebody call my name – or something like that. “Hey, new kid! Styles! Wait up!” I immediately came to a halt on the top step and I mentally cursed. I was so close to making it out of school alive.

Slowly and reluctantly, I turned around to face whoever had called my name. I wasn’t surprised when I found Zayn Malik making his way towards me, a smirk on his face.

“Hey, Styles,” he said in a way that gave me chills, but definitely not the good kind. “Where do you think you’re going?”

“Home. With me.” My head snapped around as I felt the presence of somebody behind me after their voice was heard. My eyes met beautiful turquoise ones for a split second before he looked back up at Zayn. I did the same and found Zayn’s smirk gone, replaced with a slightly scared expression.

“H-he is?” Zayn stuttered and I definitely wasn’t expecting that.

“Yes, he is,” and with that, the boy grabbed my arm and spun me around, dragging me away.

I silently followed until we got to what I was assuming was his car. He opened the door to the passenger’s side for me, but I shook my head.

“Um, no, I’m walking home,” I told him with an uneasy smile. You can’t blame me for being nervous, though, the only thing I knew about this guy was that he was able to make the guy that picked on me stutter in fear.

“No you’re not, get in the car.” His voice was high. A lot higher than mine, making me feel slightly less intimidated by him. The height difference between us did, too. He was definitely a senior but I was still at least a head taller than him. It gave me enough confidence to wriggle out of his grip.

“I have to go now,” I said, not wanting to turn this into a big deal. I wasn’t comfortable getting into a car with a stranger, there was nothing wrong with that.

I started walking towards my house but as I got closer, I heard a car slowly driving behind me, and I immediately knew who it was. I stopped walking and turned around so I was looking at the car I had seen only minutes earlier. Well, I was looking at the attractive boy sitting in the driver’s seat, but still.

I raised an eyebrow at him and he rolled the window to his car down. “Get in the car, I’ll drive you home,” he said blankly. There was literally no emotion in his voice whatsoever.

“My house is literally around the corner. I think I can manage,” I said, not meaning to sound so sassy and rude, but I couldn’t help it.

I walked the rest of the way, the boy following me, but I ignored him. It wasn’t until I had gone inside that I realised something;

He knew where I lived.
