Anne POV:

"MONICA ARE YOU AWAKE?" I yelled, pounding on Monica's door for the millionth time in the last minute.

"MONICA OPEN UPPPPPPP..." I dragged out the "p" as I waited for Monica, my dearest, bestest, friend who so dearly loves her slumber, to open the door. It's half past 4 in the morning, she should be up on tumblr or something. Before I could knock again I heard the locks unlock. Perfect.

"Anne what the fuck are you doing? It's literally 4 am." Monica yawned as she opened the door tiredly and leaned against the door frame.

"I couldn't sleep, where's your cat." I replied pushing past her and looking around.

"He's sleeping, like I should be rather than being here with my idiotic bestfriend who sneaks over to my house every Saturday at fricking 4 am." She said rolling her eyes at me. I turned around and narrowed my eyes.

"It's 4:30, nerd. Only nerds like you sleep at 4:30 am," I replied smuggly, ruffling her hair as I walked past. "What food do you have?"

"Not anything you'd like." She replied following me into the kitchen.

"YOU HAVE FRUIT LOOPS?! HOLY SHIT, YOU KNOW I LOVE FRUIT LOOPS!" I exclaimed grabbing the box and digging my hand into it, coming back up with a handful of rainbow goodness.

"Could you keep it down, my parents are sleeping and trust me, they wake up, they'll bar the windows so you can't even get in through there." Monica shushed me chuckling slightly.

"Sorry I just get really excited. My parents don't let me eat it anymore!" I jumped foot to foot, clutching the cereal to my chest. I fricking love Fruit Loops, man, you have no idea.

"Yeah cause you get hyper all the time. When you were 7 you literally ate a whole box, then tried to eat little 5 year old Eddie's bowl, you dork." She retorted as she grabbed a box of cheerios out.

"Eh, yeah I guess that's reasonable. Wanna watch Heathers?" I offered walking over to her couch and propping myself down, taking up the entire futon. I picked up the remote as I navigated Netflix. Monica tiredly walked over with her own box of cereal and moved my legs up so she could sit down. She placed my legs back a second later only to make fun of my sock choice.

"Ha nice beige and green socks." She replied poking my leg.

"Shut up, they're Eddie's. Like I would wear such gross socks." I shoved her lightly as she laughed.

"Well why ARE you wearing your brothers socks then, in that much of a rush to see me?" She replied winking at me.

I rolled my eyes, "more like in that much of a rush to see your cat. Who, may I add, I still haven't seen." I replied looking around before looking at her and making an unsatisfied face.

"Eh, you'll do for now." I shoved my foot into her face as we both laughed.

"Nah but I have missed you, it's been a while since we've truly seen eachother, you know?" I said, moving so I was sitting right next to Monica.

"It has, hasn't it. Not my fault you've been gone all summer." She replied as she shifted a little so I'd have more room, I scooted closer to her anyway.

"It's not my fault you haven't called. I told you you could've wrote letters, it was only a long ass week full of screaming children. Plus I got home a full week ago." I replied elbowing her a little.

"Yeah I guess, just been a little busy with... things." She replied as I continued to search for the movie. They have so many movies saved to their list, quite difficult.

"Things, aye? You met a boy or something?" I smiled brightly. Monica hasn't liked a guy in YEARS so I always tease her about it. I've tried setting her up on a date once but she flaked out, we were also 6 at the time though so it's acceptable.

"No! Just things in general. I'll uh, tell you another time." She muttered off.

I glanced over at her slouched state.

"Okay, take your time." I replied putting my arm around her shoulder as I pressed play. "For now, we watch angsty teens have totally realistic angsty problems."

"How very." She retorted as she leaned her head on my shoulder.

I've missed the little, slightly older, nerd. Summer hasn't been the same since we started junior year. Everything has changed for better and for worse.

But right now I'm sitting on the couch with my bestfriend, eating cereal, watching my favorite movie, in pajamas, not a care in the world.

I love it.
