You Are Gone

When you finally close your eyes

When you tell your world good bye

Where do you go while your loved ones mourn?

Will they ever find you again?

Will you find them?

Will you even remember any of it?

Or will it be foggy and distant, like awaking from a dream.

Will everything you have done be archived?

Or, will it had mattered at all?

As they lay you in your resting place

Tears going down their faces

What has become of you, since you have left?

Are you reunited with people you've lost along the way?

Or are you suffering endlessly with no delay?

Perhaps you are alone.

A place far from home.

No color, no sound nor any feeling at all.

Your thoughts, all your regrets and wishes, fade to nothing.

A most unfair and unimaginable award for having had lived a life, we all adored.

Maybe you are here.

Right here with us, sharing in the saddening silence.

Sharing in our own regrets and wishes.

You are here but yet, we feel you not.

Your body has been laid.

We must go our separate ways.

As I drop the last rose upon your grave.

I think of a place where you will be always.

Within my own memories of you.

Where you live on forever with me as I age.

My old, weary eyes, I see you still.

Smiles and laughter, oh what a chill.

I slip away on the bed I have made.

Vision fades, as do my audience too.

I reawaken, only to find you.

Oh, my old friend. So this is where you have been?
