Having been in the basement for a whole day now, Autumn pondered about going outside. Looking out of the window though she second thoughts. The rain was pouring down, and it seemed like it had no chances to stop.
The dusty room was silent. That was until a she heard a woman scream with annoyance.
"Get out of my house! You're sick!'
Autumn could see the little woman now. She was drunk, and prodding a seventeen year old guy with a broom.
Stepping closer, since they couldn't see her, she patted the boys arm. He flinched, of course. A good fifteen minutes later though, the woman left.
Autumn suddenly felt emotion flood through her veins for the boy. He was bleeding and you could tell that around his green eye was growing purple. Grabbing the blue blanket she had kept to keep herself warm, Autumn draped it around the boys shoulders. It was strange that he didn't notice the blanket randomly being dragged around his shoulders, but he didn't care. The guy was already asleep.
It was morning now and you could just imagine the sun rising. Autumn decided not to go to her families house. Not now.
Suddenly, she noticed the boy stirring. He sat up, and touched the patch he had gotten hit on. Autumn had tried to patch it up, though paper wasn't exactly good.
"Hello?" He said, turning around. Autumn didn't sleep with her blanket, but instead slept on the dusty rocking chair.
"Yeah?" Autumn replied, blinking back sleep. She didn't realize that the boy couldn't see her, but hear her.
He awkwardly stood up, stumbled, and hit his knees on the wooden floor.
Rushing to help, she helped him get up.
"W-who are you?" He whispered.
Autumn giggled.
"Don't worry. And if I told you, you wouldn't believe me."
He got up, and stuttered over to the rocking chair, draping her blanket with him too.
"What happened last night?" He asked, sadly.
"Your mum kicked you out. I'm sorry..."
He patted the air, thinking it was Autumn's head.
"It's okay. I hated her anyway. Drunk everyday, and beating me up. Oh, I'm Adam."
Adam gave a weak smile.
"I'm Autumn. Oh, and I'm not there." She said, giggling.
They both smiled, and for a few minutes, it was quiet.
Adam finally spoke. "So you're, like, a ghost?"
Autumn replied, "No, an angel. I came here to look over my family, but y' know, It's not much of a family anymore." She tried to sound positive, but couldn't keep the sadness out of her voice. "I miss the life I once loved..."
Autumn looked at Adam. He had Dark brown hair that seemed to side sweep, green eyes and pale skin. He also looked under fed. Autumn, however, had light strawberry blonde hair, blue eyes and also looked under fed.
"We're a bunch of rejects, right?" Autumn said.
"Pretty much." Adam answered, not bothering to fight back.
Looking away, Autumn touched her dark blue wings. She wanted Adam to see them, since he was the nicest, and only, person who knew what she had been through. Would he trust me? Autumn thought.
That was when Adam screamed.
"Are you ok? What's happened?" She said in a flurry of panic.
"I can ACTUALLY see you. Like, in person!" Adam answered. "Is that meant to happen?"
Autumn froze in shock. This has never happened in anyone I knows life! She wondered.
"Do you hate me then?" Tears where welling up in her eyes. She was actually painfully shy.
Adam looked shocked. "No! Why? You're pretty, and a great comforter-" Adam couldn't finish his sentences. Autumn hugged him.
"I've lost everything, and you're the only person I have left." She whispered in his ear.
"Same here." He answered softly. "It's probably pretty dark now, anyway. Let's hit the hay."
Autumn smiled, and dragged the blanket to the corner. It was the warmest place in the room, so they wouldn't freeze.
And soon, they where sleeping, in the cellar. The angel and the boy.
