This is set where Mahiru is like 7-8 were his mom just passed away
It was late and I was already walking back from school, my uncle won't be home until late again today. As those thoughts muddled in my mind I didn't realize that I was tearing up.
"God, why are you like this" I whispered to myself. I had to be strong for my mom..I had to be..but I can't help think that I'm alone in the world. Uncle doesn't have time for me because of his job and my friends wouldn't understand...
I looked up from the ground and blinked away the tears, and I realized that I was lost.."Great.", I mumbled to myself and just kept walking. Looking for anyone who could help. I searched and searched trying to find someone non skeptical. When I couldn't find anyone tears started to flow. I stopped to wipe them, trying to calm down, I looked up and saw this 'decent' looking man with a hoodie that looked like it had cat ears on them.
"U-um, excuse me!", I called out to the man.
He turned around with a slight grunt and what sounded like a "yes?"
"C-could you help me find my way back to my school..I was wandering around and I seemed to have gotten lost, you don't have to go all the way just to-" I was cut off by something patting my head. The man bent down to my level.
"Hey kid don't ramble, it'll be a pain, I'll help you don't worry" the man smiled a bit at me and I smiled brightly back. "Thank you!"
So the man walked me back to the front of my elementary school and when we arrived he said he has to get back somewhere so I waved goodbye to him.
"Hm..I never got his name" I shrugged it off and walked home.

I was walking home with Kuro on my head. I was humming to myself when I thought of something.
"Hey Kuro?" He just grunted "Have you ever thought that we might've met before..?"
I felt him stiffen a bit, "W..why would you think that.." He just mumbled and awkwardly laughed
I turned my face to the ground again, thinking but I couldn't remember.
