he smiled for a moment, warm brown eyes meeting mine. he quickly looked away.
my eyes drifted to the ground and i twisted my brown hair between my fingers.
"so, you said once we make it to high school you'd tell us who you like!!" i snap out of space to see my best friend sitting with us, she'd filled the gap between conversations. it was the first day of high school, we were waiting for our bus to pick us up from school. everyone was either tired or excited. boys ran around kicking a ball, some girls played handball, some other mixed groups just sat around talking, like us.
my day had been a sufficient first da. i'd met some nice girls in my homeroom i could sit with, (after being split from my friends, of course.) then we walked to each class together, finding that all our schedules lined up. they were super nice, but there was nothing like taking in the comfort of sitting with farmiliar primary school friends who you'd known fora few years. it was nice.
it was a hot day, considering how aussie summers get.
"ha, i said when we get here. never said exactly when.i'll tell you some other time, okay."
i sighed. "fine, be that way. as longs as you actually tell us this time!"
we looked up and saw the bus pulling into the school. we picked up our bags and hopped on the bus. "at least we don't have to lug all of our books on the bus this time," he grinned.
I responded with a laugh, then "yeah, theres that."
