Evie has lost her sister. Devastated by the death of her husband, the love of her life, Esther died of a broken heart. Her daughter Elle is 15 and only knows that her mother blamed herself at the end, rambling on about a family curse. The sisters had always been close and Evie knows all about the curse she is talking about its the reason she keeps her distance. The two of them had already moved away from their family home in the hope that they would escape their fate. But it didn't work and now Evie feels broken.
Being left in charge of Elles care she heads back to her only other relative; her crazy grampa Ed. Who has moved in to the sleepy English village of Forest Done to live out his final days in peace. Or so he says.
Evie hopes that the peace and quiet of Forest Dene will help them both to heal.
But the residents of Forest Dene have their own secrets and their own curses to deal with. Unknowingly the two girls get caught up in them and they have to learn to rely on each other if they want to survive and break the curse of their family.
