Sonic and the Slenderman

Chapter 8

    As we were watching the rest of the news, Tails and Knuckles came down the stairs.

    "Hey, guys, how's it go- AHH! SHADOW!" I heard Tails scream. He suddenly started running towards Shadow with his teeth bared. He had a stick held high in his hand.

    "No Tails! Wait!" I got in front of a cowering Shadow. Bad idea. I got the stick slammed into my head and I blacked out.

    I woke up in my bed, Shadow, Tails, and Knuckles were standing over me.

    "What happened?" I slurred. It felt as if I had a bubble in my throat, making my voice sound weird. You know what I mean.

    "You got hit by Tails' stick." Knuckles explained.

    "Oh." I rubbed my head and instantly winced and took it away.

    "Ow!" I glared around me. My eyes landing on Tails, who looked away shamefully.

    "I- I'm sorry, Sonic." he murmured.

    "It's okay, buddy." I said, smiling.

    He smiled shyly. Shadow was standing a little ways away from my bed, his head down.

    "What is it, Shadow?" I was totally confused.

    "It's my fault that you got hurt, Sonic." he muttered.

    "Oh. Wait, what?!" I jumped out of bed. "You're taking up for it?! WHAT??!!"

    "Yeah." he suddenly jumped at me and flung me off the bed.

    "Shadow, what the he- Holy Mrs. Incredible Batman..." I said as I stared at Shadow in front of me. But in front of him was..

    "Run!" Shadow yelled as he faced the creature. I scrambled to my feet and raced for the door. I heard Shadow coming behind us, racing downstairs as well.

    "Hurry! Get to the meadow in the woods!" he yelled as we were coming out the door.

    "But isn't that the worst place to be?" Tails yelped.

    "Not if we make a kill circle around Sonic. That way he won't be able to get to him." Shadow countered.

    "Oh. Makes sense." Tails murmured to himself.

    I was running just barely in front of Shadow. He was right on my tail. I could tell he was trying to stay behind me and not trip over me. He can keep up with me pretty well, with those... shoes that let him use fire to run. I seriously have no clue what they are.

    I ran into the middle of the clearing ahead me. And came to a dead stop.

    There, in the middle of the clearing, was Him.
