Chapter 1: Only 16

It was the day before my sixteenth birthday and I was meant to be asleep but I couldn't help but notice that my mother and father were whispering to each other and my mother mentioned my name then I started listening in. I heard my mother say"Well I guess she is old enough but will she be able to look after herself?" I was confused what were they talking about, I suddenly heard the door handle turn and I quickly turned away and pretended to be asleep. My father replied to my mother with "I think she is definitely ready," I fell asleep straight away because it was quite late.

I woke up with the cheer of my mother and father. "Happy Birthday!" They cheered.
"Um... yay I guess," I replied.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing,"
"Come on tell us,"
"I said nothing!" I said a tiny bit louder.
"Ok then,"
I looked at their faces they were looking at me as if I knew something I shouldn't have.
They started whispering very quietly that I couldn't hear them if I tried, they looked back at me. "When did you go to sleep last night?"
I lied, "Em...eleven,"
"Oh... ok then,"

My mother and father smiled, I went down stairs with them and saw many presents but one in particular caught my eye, it was an envelope it didn't look like a card. Then I figured out what they were whispering about, they want me to move out!
"Erm... mum?"
"Yes dear?"
"What age will I be when I move out?"
"Erm...," She looked over at my father then continued. "16,"
I knew it they were trying to make me move out I was actually happy about this I always wished that I would move out! I hugged them both and said "Thank you," And kissed them on the cheeks.

I opened all of my other presents most of them were cooking or sewing related but I loved them, my mother cooked breakfast with the special cat egg mound only used on birthdays!
I forgot one last present it was the envelope my father tapped me on the back and said "here is some money for a house, not too much and not too little,"
He grinned and so did I.
"I'm going out to go see my friends!" I said excitedly, I walked out of the house and went round the corner to where the forest is, I wandered in and looked around in the forest and one looked very suspicious so I followed it started to fly really fast and very high but it was still in the forest. I looked up at it while I was running and suddenly I tripped and did a summersault on the grass and kept running (I was so surprised) there where so many trees it started to get dark and I couldn't really see it but then it emitted light I kept following it until I suddenly ran full force into a huge dark tree...
