Chapter Seven

"Did you seriously come here?" Megan asked as she walked outside to see her mom and dad out front.

"You refuse to talk and be adult about this." Lauren replied as Megan stood in front of her.

"How am I not being adult about this, mom?"

"You're letting your future be controlled but your feelings for him. You wanted to be a vet and everything before he came back."

"Stop saying that. He has no say so in my future. If I want to do something, I damn well am gonna do it."

"Megan, I kind of have to agree with your mom on this one." Megan glared at Carl.

"Seriously? Did you not tell Jake that you liked him and trusted him with making me happy? I can't believe my amazing parents who told me they would support any choice I make are now saying that my boyfriend is influencing me. You wouldn't be telling me this if Jake was some normal kid still living in Ohio."

"We don't want you to make a decision and then something happen." Lauren said.

"Something like what? Me and Jake breaking up?"

"That is not what I meant."

"That is exactly what you meant. Get out of my yard." Megan ignored her mom telling her to stop and walked inside, slamming the door. Tessa, Neels, Alex, and AJ, all tried their hardest not to react to hearing the argument. She looked up and saw Jake who was standing against the wall looking at her. Megan sighed. "You heard that?" The four that were sitting in the house all walked out of the front room. Jake nodded his head. He was quiet for some time which made Megan nervous. All Jake did was turn and walk upstairs to the bedroom.

About five minutes later, Megan walked upstairs and into her bedroom to see Jake putting some clothes in a backpack.

"Will you talk to me?" Megan asked as she grabbed Jake's arm. He looked up at Megan.

"Your parents are blaming me for your choices." Jake responded and crossed his arms. "What am I supposed to say?"

"I don't know, I guess. But your quietness is making me nervous."

"Are you coming to Vegas with us?"

"I didn't know if you wanted me to." Jake had a sort of pissed off look on his face.

"Yeah, I want you to go."

"Then I'll go." Jake went back to packing but Megan could still tell that he had a pissed off look on his face. It irritated her that he wouldn't talk to her but she understood because her parents went from loving Jake to saying that he was the reason she was thinking about changing what she wanted to do.

Megan sat in the back of the car that Greg was driving. They picked up Cameron Dallas, his friend, Chris, Cade, and Patrick Finnegan. Jake was vlogging acting as if nothing was going on between them. She had a feeling her coming on this trip was pointless because Jake hadn't talked to her much since they left.

When they got to the hotel, everybody was amazed and Jake was vlogging it. Eventually the group split up after deciding who got what room.

Megan was in her and Jake's bathroom sitting on the counter texting Tessa whom she had quickly bonded with since she joined Team 10. She looked up when she heard a knock at the door. The door opened and Jake poked his head in.

"Are you avoiding me?" Jake asked as he walked in.

"No, I just sit in the bathroom on the counter texting a friend when my boyfriend doesn't talk to me the entire car ride to Vegas." Megan replied very bluntly. "Look...I get hearing that from my parents who thought you were an amazing guy for me makes you really pissed off but that doesn't mean you need to stop talking to me. You're kind of beginning to make me feel to blame."

"Don't ever think I blame you for what your parents said." Jake said as he walked up the edge of the counter. "They are grown ass adults and are responsible for anything that comes out of their mouths. You mean the world to me. You put up with me not always being home and being there with you. We spent a year apart because neither of us wanted to live without each other. You put up with me for three years. There's no way in hell I would throw that away because of your parents. I'm not that kind of boyfriend."

Megan finally smiled making Jake smile. He pulled her to the edge of the counter and she let her feet dangle. Jake's hands rested on either side of her legs.

"I would do anything for you." Megan wrapped her arms around Jake's neck and leaned her forehead against Jake's. "I'm sorry for making you feel like I was blaming you. I was just upset and I probably should've talked to you about it."

"Don't ever feel like you have to talk to me. If you don't want to talk to me just tell me that you don't want to talk about it and you don't have to talk about it." Jake leaned forward and kissed Megan, slightly catching her off guard. Megan's hands rested on his bare side underneath his shirt.

"I love you." Jake mumbled against Megan's lips.

"I love you too." Megan replied and wrapped her legs around him and they continued to kiss.

While the guys went out for a bit, Megan decided to stay back and take a nap. She lay on the bed as she continued to text Tessa. Her phone started to ring and she saw that it was her dad calling.

"Hello?" Megan answered her phone.

"Hey, I know you probably don't want to talk to me or your mom but I wanted to apologize." Carl said on his other end.

"Well you already did the damage. Jake wouldn't talk to me the entire ride to Vegas. He's still pissed at you guys. I still am too for what you said."

"You have every right to be. Me and your mom aren't really talking right now because I told her what we said to you was wrong."

"Yeah it was. In fact, if I wasn't dating Jake, I wouldn't have the courage to be a model. You and mom don't understand that Jake makes me feel good about myself and takes care of me. That's why I it hurt me when you said that."

"I know and I really am sorry for saying that."

Megan ended up falling asleep shortly after the talk with her dad. The guys came back later that night and Jake went to the room to check on her. He opened the door to see Megan passed out in bed. Jake smile and walked in, closing the door behind him. He quietly got on the bed and lay down facing Megan as she slept. Jake put his hand over Megan's and felt her let his fingers slip through hers so his hand curled over his. Her eyes slowly opened and she smiled when she saw Jake lying there.

"Wasn't trying to wake you." Jake said softly.

"It's fine, I just needed a nap." Megan replied and let out a big yawn. "My dad apologized but as usual, my mom is being stubborn. I guess they haven't been talking."

"That's what happened with my parents before they split." Megan knew Jake was right but she didn't want to think that her parents would split. Jake rubbed Megan's forehead when she didn't respond. "I'm trying to upset you."

"I know, I just don't know what'd I do if that happened." Megan sighed and immediately she went back to thinking about the chance of her parents getting divorced. She closed her eyes filling the tears start to come. She sniffled and Jake felt bad for saying that. Jake scooted closer to Megan and put his arm over her and let his forehead rest against hers.

"I didn't mean to upset you." Jake said and rubbed Megan's back with his thumb. Megan sniffled and wiped the tears that escaped. "You want to go get in the pool? Get your mind off it?" Megan nodded her head and finally smiled.

Jake and Megan finally changed into his trunks and the bikini she packed. All the other guys were in their rooms so it was just Megan and Jake in the pool.

"I love the view." Megan said as she walked over to the glass and looked out at the Vegas view. She smiled when she felt Jake come up behind her.

"Kind of makes you want to move here." Jake said as he let his chin rest on Megan's shoulder.

"It's too expensive to live here but I like the all the lights at night."

"Maybe just me and you can come back here by ourselves." Megan smiled and leaned her head back against Jake's shoulder. He kissed her cheek and then looked back at the view.
