The Dark Ones

College letter

I get home expecting my mom and dad to be gone at work like usual, but they are sitting at the kitchen table instead. They were glimpsing at something it appeared to be a letter of some kind, as i glanced more closely at it i started to noticed it looked like it was from Brenau university. I had recently sent in a video of me trying to prove that time travel was possible, but one night i got off my shift at Joe's Bar and went home to find it destroyed i never tried to repair it afterwards.  

As i shut the door quietly as i could from getting off my shift at work. I heard my mom yell,

"Can you believe this Adam," I was astonished mom has never raised her voice before she was always the calm parents.

"What is it maria,"Dad said as he  leaned over to look at the letter. I walked into the room to get their attention to figure out what was going on. Mom looked up at dad with a Mixed expression.

"Hey mom what's going on," I said to clear the air of what they were so focused on. Mom whirled around with her hand flying up to her chest.

"Good heavens Amber, don't you know not to sneak up on people," She gasped out and that's when I took a moment to look at her then the letter and i knew something was up.

"Mom what's going on and is that my letter," I said in a firm manner even though I knew I probably didn't get in.

"Hunny you might want to sit down your mother and I have to have a discussion with you," he spoke clearly while holding out a chair for me to sit on.

"Your father's right, Amber we both love you deeply. We are concerned about your well being. You are my baby I don't want you to grow up and leave home yet. I don't understand why you choose a college away from here" said mom with a hint or worry in her voice. She handed me the letter and as I read it I got butterflies in my stomach.

As I finished reading the letter I sat there starring at the letter thinking about my future. I got accepted into the college I wanted. I started screaming and jumping for joy.

"I got in. I got in. I got in. Shows what you can do when you put your mind to it but I full ride scholarship I can't believe it" I said in a mix of happiness and concern.

"I know your mother and I don't understand it either but it's getting late sweetheart why don't you go to bed and we can start packing tomorrow to get you a place set up by the college" dad said as he was writing on a piece of paper.

I didn't even stay in the room long enough to figure out what he wrote down. I ran up the stairs to my room and plopped down on my soft bed in my room. I kick off my shoes as I sit on the bed and I grab a ponytail and throw my hair into a bun. I could smell the bar on my uniform so I threw my work clothes in the hamper and began changing into a pair of sweatpants and a tank top. I jumped under the covers and lay their in the dark while I think to myself that I got in to college I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep when I did it was like I had a vision of a man I am gonna met very soon that will cause my life to change around.
