"Kirain, shift back." My father orderd after sitting down on the large rock.
Kirain shifted back and then Kayden sat down on the rock too, while my brother and I sat on the ground. My father gestured for Kayden to speak.
"Should I just tell you how I healed her, or the whole story about my powers and all that?" Kayden looked at him, waiting for him to answer.
"We should probably learn about your powers and the whole story since we'll need to know exactly how you healed her, and if she'll be having any after affects because of it." He glanced quickly at me before turning back to face Kayden.
"Well, for starters, I'm both a dragon and a wolf. Dragons have magical powers, as you can tell, and I work for the dragon king. I was just walking through this forest, and I found her sitting on this rock, and I saw the blood coming from her ears, and well, then I healed her. You pretty much know the rest." He kept his hand on the rock from patting it while talking.
"Just what exactly were you doing on our territory?" My dad raised an eyebrow at him.
"Hunting." Kayden answered, almost too quickly. "I know how plentiful and filling the creatures are here. Tasty too."
"I see." My father held his words out. "Would you mind coming back to our castle?"
"My king was expecting me back soon, so I shouldn't. I should be getting back." Kayden stood up and began slowly backing away. "It was nice meeting you."
"I'm sure that he wouldn't mind, any king should understand. If he has any problems, then he can answer to me." Now my father was growling through his words, I had no idea what was getting him all riled up.
"Dad, it's fine. Just let him go. It's not that big of a deal." I started to get up, but Kirain pulled me back down, holding a firm grip on my wrist.
"Ambrissa, don't do anything stupid like that when a wolf is angry. Especially a male or king. Now just stay put!" Kirain whisper yelled in my ear and gestured towards our dad.
"Kayden, please respect a king's wishes and come with us?" Now my dad's eyes were growing dark with anger and annoyance.
"Oh my gosh, I can't believe how stubborn he's being right now. Why doesn't he just let Kayden go if he doesn't want to come back with us?" I rubbed my face with hands.
"Why are you defending him? You just met him and you're already taking his side!" Kirain released my wrist and towered over me, his eyes growing dark as well.
"I-I-I don't know, I-I just feel like that's what I'm supposed to do right now. It's like I can't control it or something, I can't help it." My gaze went right to my brother's eyes, and they were pitch black, not a good sign.
"What do you mean you can't help it? Ofcourse you can help it! He doesn't control you!"
I really didn't know how to answer Kirain, I just felt a strange kind of connection between me and him. That's when I realized what Kayden had told me earlier, I was eventually going to turn into a dragon at some point in my life. But now the dragon connection was getting in the way of my family relationship, according to Kirain and my father's tempers at least. What he said next made me say something that I never wanted to say to anyone in this family, and something that I never wanted to have happen to myself.
"You're just a monster and you can't see the obvious difference between the right chocie and the wrong choice! Now I'm starting to regret ever changing because of how I was treating you!" He paused for a few moments, and then he continued, "We never should've welcomed or brought you back into this family, it was all a mistake! You don't belong here!"
