"Kassidy, sweetie, you're going to be late!" is all I hear while I am rushing to get ready for my first day of high school. I decided to keep it casual and throw on a t-shirt and my favorite pair of jeans. I knew I was going to wear a t-shirt for the rest of the year so why make people expect me to put effort into my outfits? I quickly grab my backpack, my sweater and my lucky bracelet and rush to the living room where my mom is already waiting at the door. I quickly put on my shoes and run outside. I wasn't too excited about high school. Being the little ones again but might as well make the best of it.

I get to school and find my friends in the cafeteria eating breakfast. I quickly walk over with my head down afraid to make eye contact with any upperclassmen. We sit and talk for what felt like 5 minutes and then the bell rang. 1st period. My schedule was okay so I didn't have any problems. It was just after school that I was worried about. Since I couldn't play sports due to a recent injury, I decided to be a student trainer. Which means I have to learn how to treat all the injuries that happen in our extracurricular activities. Which means I had to attend the boys football practice.... the boys football practice. Any girl would be nervous right? I was kind of at ease knowing my cousin Braxton plays football and he's a senior so he should be able to warn me about who to watch out for. The bell rings after last period and I head over to the training room. It was hectic. There were athletes everywhere from every sport. I met all the other students trainers and they all knew what they were doing. Great. Not only am I a sophomore newbie but also a trainer newbie. Talk about an outcast. I decide to go get changed into my shorts and tennis shoes. I come back and all the athletes are cleared out. We are ready to head out to practice. Since I was an underclass men, I covered practice after school along with 3 other sophomores. I knew them fairy well so I felt more at ease. We get on the field and start filling the water bottles. It's now time to pick a group. Since they were all wearing the same thing, it took me a while to spot Braxton but I eventually did and walked over to his group. Halfway over there, Braxton shouts "oh no. Look who it is. Can we have another trainer?" I felt my face immediately get hot when all of his group and the groups next to them all turned to face me but I kept walking with my head down. I introduced myself to the lineman coach as instructed and informed him that I will be his trainer for the rest of the season. He was a pretty young guy so he cracked a few jokes with Braxton about me throughout the practice and all the lineman were laughing along. They eventually made jokes with me about Braxton so I laughed along too.

I didn't really know any of the lineman except for Julian. He was one of Braxton's closest friends. Oh and Jacoby. But everybody in town knew Jacoby. He was the football star with the head cheerleader as his girlfriend. "Typical" I thought to myself. I laughed a lot with Julian but I didn't even dare crack a joke with Jacoby. A guy like that is usually a jerk right?
