The daughter sat alone in the dark
and watched a leaf fall from afar.
Her eyes followed the leaf descend away
until it on the brown bed finally lay.
This made her sad because she understood
it was no longer needed by its home wood.
She stared at it from her windowsill
-at the dying piece of green lying ever so still.
Tears rained down at the memory of the day
her mother fell and was taken away.
She guessed life had locked its door.
Her mother was welcome here no more.
She remembered her mother's last goodbye,
“We'll meet again in God's time.
Remember I love you, my daughter dear.
I am always with you, always here."
Alone in the dark, the daughter sat
staring at the green atop the brown dirt mat.
“I love you mom; missed you ever since."
Then swiftly the leaf gone by the wind.
She didn't want to sit in the dark all day,
so she stepped outside and welcomed sun's rays.
She sat at the backyard smiling
at another leaf free-falling.
“You do watch me everyday mom?"
She sighed and closed her eyes, “I love you too."
