Mommy wake up grandpas not here! After i hear that i bolt up from the bed. What do you mean he's not here where is he? 'I don't know i woke up and i went to the kitchen and i didn't see his car'. Looking over to my alarm clock i see that i woke up late. Oh crap! "Mommy said a bad word'. Opps sorry its just were going to be late for school. Come here baby lets get you ready for school. With that being said i go to her dresser and pull out a nice flower dress. With shorts so she can wear under. Changing her i tell her to grab her back pack and go to the kitchen. Going to my dresser i pick out some shorts and a grey pull over and my black converse with my black beanie. Throwing that on i grab my back pack and go to the kitchen. Siting down at the table is Ella waiting for breakfast. Making her eggs really quick i go to the microwave to see if dad came home. If the chili still in their means he never came home. But if its not in their that means he came home and ate it. Looking inside i see he never came home, taking it out i put it in the fridge. Looking at my watch i know the bus left. I have to walk with El to school. Putting everything away and make sure i grab an apple to eat really quick. 'Mommy are you mad at me'? Aww honey i can never be mad at you i love you. I am mad at grandpa for not coming home. Don't worry about it baby girl come on. We got to go to school we are running late. Okay then mommy. With that i put her dish away and we walk out of the house. Making sure to lock the door we leave to her school. Within fifteen long minutes we are there. Apologizing to the school and the teachers about how we late are late. Thankful how understanding they are. Speed walking to school i get there thirty minutes late, telling the attendance lady about my dad. Well the good parts she lets me slide, with a warning. Walking into was more then weird it was plain awkward. Not giving the other students anymore attention i walk to my desk and pray that everything goes back to normal. Within ten minutes everyone is back focus on the teacher. Becky where were you? I will explain during lunch. With that i cut her off with a look i only give El. Finally i get through all my core classes and get to go to lunch but i know i will get grilled by Stacy. Walking in with her, thankful she waits until after we get our food and sit down. You can feel the tension i am sure the guys feel it to. Okay what is up with you two? I came late to school and Stacy's mad at me. For giving her a look i give El. When i don't want her to talk. I am sorry but its just what happened today was private. I really don't want anyone else to over hear. Okay fine i forgive you Becks. Anyway do you want to tell us now. Yeah sure. Last night i did what my dad told me last morning which pick up El from school feed her and take her a bath then put her to bed. I did all of that before i went to bed. Put the the left over food in the microwave. So he can eat it later but when i woke up. He wasn't here so i woke up late el wasn't dressed or feed. So i had to do everything this morning. That's why i was so late and i know you guys are probably thinking I'm overreacting. But i really think something is wrong. It's okay Beck we don't think you are crazy with everything you've been through. It's okay to be scared when a family member doesn't come home. Thank you. Anyway if haven't heard from him until tomorrow call the cops. By then he will be missing for twenty-four hours. Okay thanks for the advice guys. With that we get to eating our lunch for the rest of lunch. The rest of the day passes by in a blur. I couldn't get any of my dance moves right. Or in gymnastics i couldn't do my drills the right way. So both teachers just told me to sit out for today. Clear my head. With gymnastics ending i just go change. Go to the front so i can sign out. Leaving out the door i walk to the main office. Hurrying to sign out. With that i take a nice walk to Ella's school. Trying to get myself in a better mood before Ella notices. Feeling a lot better with the thought of my cute little sister in her cute outfit. Finally reaching the school i sit down and wait for the bell to ring. After a couple of seconds it goes off. Mere seconds before i hear the laugh of my sister. Getting up from the bench i look for her. Seeing her heading this way with a couple of friends. Walking up to them she finally notices me. Hey mommy theses are my friends they are really nice to me. Introducing myself to them they all say hello to me. Okay kids i think your parents miss you all why don't you go run along. Giving them a wave they all spread out into different directions. Come on baby let's go home. But mommy i don't want to go home yet. Well then what do you want to do? Can we go get ice cream and walk around the park? Sure but after that we need to go home and make dinner. Stopping bye the ice cream shop before we hit the park. Sitting down on the bench we eat our ice cream together. I got chocolate and she got strawberry. Looking around at all the other kids laughing and playing. Having fun. Ella are you happy? Yeah i am. Not asking the right question i guess i have to explain it a little more. No i mean are you happy, no one picks on you at school right. Why would anyone pick on me mommy? I don't know other kids might think i am to young. To be your mommy and make fun of you. No i am okay everyone is really nice to me. Okay then you will tell me if anyone is mean to you right. Yep mommy i will tell you everything i will never leave you. Good now why don't you go run along and play for a little bit. Okay i finished my ice cream. Can you hold my trash mommy? Of course baby go ahead and play i will be right here. Remember the rules. Giving me a head nod she leaves to go play. Getting up really quick to throw away both our trash and come and sit down. Not wanting to lose Ella i just sit there and watch her play. I can't lose another family member. If something happened to our dad, she will be the only thing i have left. And as i much as i hate to say it but she is my life. I couldn't go on living without her. Two hours later of just watching her and i am ready to call it a day, plus i have a lot of work to make up. Since i missed first half of class today. Getting up i make sure i have Ella stuff and mine. Ella!! Lets go home already. Hearing foot steps i see that she's right in front of me already. Okay mommy lets go. Giving her, her back pack she straps it on while i hold her hand. Taking only ten minutes we get home, unlocking the door Ella runs in while i close the door behind. Walking into the kitchen i look through the cabinets. Seeing what we can make for dinner tonight. Finally deciding on something light, i just decided to make sandwiches. Making Ella peanut butter and jelly i cut it up in four squares. While i make a turkey sandwich and cut it into half triangles . Calling Ella for food she comes rushing in and sits down and eats. Thankfully i remember to take off the crust, other wise she would of not of eaten it. After finishing she throws her plastic plate in the trash. Coming to standing infront of me. Picking her up i sit her on my lap, yes can i help you baby girl. Thank you for dinner mommy it was great. Giving me a hug she gets off and goes back to playing in our room. With that now said i clean up the kitchen. Grabbing my work and get started on it. Thirty minutes later i see its almost eight i have to get Ella to take a bath and go to bed. Standing up from my spot at the table i go to our room. Ella to take her a quick bath and then put her to bed. Mommy what if grandpa doesn't come back what will happen to us. Aww don't worry about any of that stuff i will figure it out. Now get to bed my dear we still have school. Okay but can you sing to me until i fall asleep. Sure sweetie. I sing her my favorite songs hush little baby. Going on the third verse shes already asleep. Leaving the room as quietly i can i go back to the living room finally i just slouch on the couch. Totally tired of the whole day. I thought i was a mother before but now this takes on a new meaning. An hour goes by and i hear two loud knocks on the door. Glancing at my watch i see that its almost ten o'clock. Afraid that it would wake Ella i got up quickly. But made sure to look through the peep hole to see. Looking through i saw that there two police man. Yes how may i help you? Yes is this the resident of Ruben Martinez. That's my father has something happened to him? Both men look to each other before the one on the left looks up at me with pity eyes. A look i know to well. I am sorry to say this mam but he was identified this morning. By his car that was found in a lake. We rushed him to the hospital but it was to late. Oh my god he's dead. Sinking down to my knees i start to cry. The one who told me trying to comfort me as much as he can. Letting them in i go and sit down on the couch i just keep crying. Mommy? Mommy why are you crying what's wrong? Lifting my head up i see Ella with tears in her eyes just waiting to fall. Opening my arms she jumps right in. I am so sorry baby girl but grandpas not coming home. He died but don't worry mommy is going to take really good care of you. She just sits their and cry. Pulling myself together for her i look to the police me. Thank you for informing me about this i will make the funeral arrangements. Anytime mam if you need anything please don't forget to call. Thank you i will. With Ella stilling my arms i show them out. Once they are gone i turn in for tonight making sure the doors are locked and lights off . I take Ella and i to our room placing her in my bed. Changing and then climb int bed with her. Hearing her little whimpers i brush her hair away with my fingers and humm. Finally after a couple minutes sleep finally takes us and i welcome the darkness.
(Nine Hours Later)
Mommy wake up its time for school. Looking at the clock i see Ella is right but i don't think we should go to school today. I have a lot to do remembering that we need to do the funeral and such for my father. Were not going to school today we have other things to do. Okay with that she lays back down. Looking up at the cling i think of what i need to do. I have to go to the funeral home then go to the hospital. To have his body transferred to the home. After that go to insurance company. Tell them about my father. Maybe it's best if i don't go to school doing all this i know i will have my hands full and then have Ella on top. But it is to much i don't want to make her go to school i mean our father did just die. I just woke up and already i am tried of today. I shouldn't have to deal with this i am only eighteen i know that's considered an adult but still. Getting up i go and change and take a shower. Coming out i see Ella trying to put on her clothes by her self. Its so cute she has a shirt on backwards and pants inside out and her shoes on backwards. Going over to her i fix everything and look that we are mostly matching. Wearing jeans and a red shirt but mine is a muscle shirt while hers is a regular shirt with butterflies on it.
Making a back pack for her with all the essentials. Which are coloring books and crayons and snacks encase she gets hungry.
Grabbing my shoes i slip them on before Ella and i go to the kitchen together. Making her scrambled eggs with cheese and place it on the table. With just eating toasts i get started just cleaning up. Once everything is neat i take a a seat and wait for Ella. To finish a couple minutes pass and she call for me. Mommy, mommy i am finished with all my food. Coming out of the living room i go and see my baby. Walking in i see shes a mess cheese on her face. Eggs next to her face. Aww she looks to cute with everything going on. She's the light when ever life turn dark she is always there to bring me into the light. Going over to her i clean her face, making sure her outfit didn't get dirty. Praising god it didn't we leave making sure the house is locked. Knowing that where were going is farther then a couple blocks. I walk us to the bus stop. After a few short minutes the bus comes to a stop in front of us. Helping Ella up first i get on after swiping my bus card. That has just enough money for the two of us. After getting a bored expression from the bus driver i sit down next to Ella on the inside. Ella just sits down and pull her back pack to her. To get her coloring book. Just sitting on the bus i look around the bus to see who else is on. Seeing a older women and a old man then some middle age people. Right next to me i see the older lady giving me the evil eye. I know that look. Anywhere she is judging me silently. Ignore her i go back to the window. Making sure we don't miss our stop. After a couple minutes i see our stop coming near. Okay Ella time to put your stuff away our stop is coming up. Finally looking up from her book she smiles at me. Okay mommy. With that she puts her stuff back in her back pack except for one picture. Not asking her why she will tell me if she wants. Finally pulling the leaver to have the bus stop. It stop and i get up to help Ella with stuff. With me leading the way i hold Ella hand. Feeling her hand pull i see that she has stopped. Right in front of the older lady already feeling this going bad. I let out a growl acting on animal instincts to protect her. At whatever the lady might do. Looking at her drawing she gives it to her. Here you go i thought this might brighten up your day. So that maybe you will have a nice day and not give my mommy meanie looks. Standing their with my mouth wide open. Shocked she would never do something so blunt and rude. Apologizing as much as i can i grab Ella and get off the bus as fast we can. Stepping off the bus we wait there and a couple minutes later it leaves. Letting go a big sigh i bened down to Ella level. Baby why did you say that to the lady it was very rude? She was being really mean to you and you were already upset. Aww it's okay baby im going to give you advice. If someone is mean to you. Then you should kill them with kindness. If they want to be like that let them, because what she did made her ugly. And when you are ugly on the inside, you are on the outside. So don't scope down to their level. It will make you ugly to and i didn't raise no ugly child. Alright mommy i wont do anything like that again promise. Okay now lets go baby girl we are behind schedule. With that we take off to the funeral home. Walking in was so depressing and i wanted to be there even less. Since there was a viewing going on leading ella and i to the office part. Walking into the​ office we were greeted by an older man. Hello mam may i help you? Umm yes one second please. Hey Ella why don't you go sit down in that chair in the corner. So you can go color me a nice picture. Okay mommy ill draw you a nice flower. Okay then thank you. With that being said she takes off with her back. Watching her for a few short moments i focus back on the man. Yes sorry about that anyway i need yo set up a funeral. For my father he passed away yesterday night. Its quite alright miss, i am sorry for your loss. Thank you. So we have a few packages for funeral arrangements. We have the min package. It comes with a viewing then after that we have the burial. You can have it same day or spread it out one each day. This package also includes your choice in casket and suit. It's only for one-thousand. That sounds great is their anyway we can have it all done tomorrow. You mam are in luck we are free the whole day so we can do both. Great now heres our insurance just send them the bill. And whatever is left i will pay. Sounds great mam we will see you tomorrow at noon. Thank you so much i am going to the hospital right now. So they can send him over to you today. Okay then thank you mam. Come on Ella time to go. Putting all her stuff away she comes over to us. Holding her hand we walk out together. Leaving the dread full place was so much better. After that the day went on for ever especially walking every where. With the hospital sending my father over the funeral home and telling the insurance. About our father i am all to ready to go to sleep. But i cant because we still have to walk back to the house. And Ella is passed out so i have to carry her. So i start our three mile journey back home. Lucky enough its not that dark out yet but it will be when we get home.
(One and a half hour later)
Turning into our block i go to houses down and get right in front of the door. Getting my key from my pocket trying not to shake Ella much. Opening the door i lock the door going to put Ella down in her bed. Changing her into more comfortable clothes. I change to and go to the living room to go make food. For myself since Ella wont wake up anymore. Just heating up the chili my dad was supposed to eat. Sitting in the quietness of the house i realized how alone i am now. Shedding a few tears i rein my emotions back in . Wiping my face of the few tears i shed, i start to clean up. After i cleaned the kitchen i clean the house. Then i get Ella and i clothes ready for tomorrow. Picking out just a nice black dress for Ella. Then laying out dark black skinny jeans with a sweet heart neckline shirt. Doing all these i am already even more tried of today. Good thing i don't have anymore family members. That i have to tell about the funeral. I haven't decided if Ella and i are going to school on friday. Knowing stacy she will drag me to school. Just to see that stupid Ralph. Who knows turning the lights off and locking everything up. I head to Ella and i room so i can sleep. Going in i set up the alarm clock so we can sleep in some what. But have enough time so we can get ready and go. Looking through my back pack i find the left over money i had. Counting it i see its enough for Ella and i to go to the funeral home. After that we can always catch a ride. Finally going to my bed with everything set up tomorrow. My mind going a mile a minute but my body shutting down. Closing my eyes i fall into the darkness of sleep.
