Galaxy sighed. Her usually dark, sleek pelt was matted and the white lights that normally danced on it were dull and still.
Why couldn't she just have a normal life?
Galaxy flinched and pondered for a moment, remembering what had happened five years before.
"Be right back, Mommy!" Young Galaxy trotted through the tall woods, smiling at the birds, the trees, and the sky.
After a long time of wandering through the unwelcoming trees she decided to go back. "Time to go back to Mommy!" She mewed. Young Galaxy scampered around, trying to find her home. "All the trees look the same.." She paused for a moment, wondering what was going on.
Suddenly, everything dawned on her. "I'm.. Lost!" She screeched out and called until her throat was raw. She curled up and cried herself into an unwelcome sleep.
Galaxy sighed again. I'll never find my family, I'll probably die out here! She thought grumpily.
Galaxy stood up and looked around. Might as well make myself useful.
She moved slowly with aching paws in search for any sign of life. She heard a rustle in a nearby bush. Galaxy crouched low and leaped for the bush.
A small rodent skittered out of reach just as Galaxy landed in it. "Ugh. I'm never going to catch anything like this!" She told herself.
She smelt a sharp scent on the roof of her mouth. She stepped forward and followed the fox-like scent. How old are you.. Two moons?! Stop acting like an ignorant kit who's mother just died! Actually.. That could be me.
Galaxy flinched at what she had just said. Galaxy saw a large hole/cave in the ground. The strong smell she had tracked was seeping through it like trickles of water down a waterfall. She sniffed curiously.
A large, red head poked out of the den. It had dark, red fur like a fox's and a white stripes along its neck. It also had distinctive black stripes like lightning bolts. Its scent smelt suspiciously like crow-food. "A..a.." Galaxy froze as she realized what this creature was. Her mind told her to run but she couldn't, she physically couldn't.
It felt like her legs had been pinned down by the fox that was about to kill her.
Her heart beat wildly in her chest so loud that she wondered if the fox could hear it. Ugh. Galaxy, don't think things like that a time like this.. You're about to die!
She felt the breath of the fox as it came in for the kill. She jammed her eyes shut and waited for her life to end.
And waited.
And waited.
And waited.
Shouldn't she be dead be now? She thought.
Galaxy opened her eyes carefully and saw it. Something living - another cat, was fighting the fox on two paws! She watched in awe as the mysterious cat chased the fox away. "A baby fox. Not to worry about. Get back to your Mother before she worries about you."
The cat spoke in a calm, sensible deep voice. It was a tom. The tom turned to Galaxy.
"What were you doing out here? Don't you know it's dangerous in this part of the forest?" He tilted his head, and curiously added; "Also, who are you?" Galaxy looked down at her paws. "I...I don't know. I'm not from here I don't think.. And I'm Galaxy." She murmured, more to herself then to anyone else, but the tom still heard her.
"Well, come with me. You look pretty terrified."
