"Lyra!" My mother yells outside my door. "You have mail. I'll give it to you when you get dressed it's back to school shopping day after all. I sleepily get out of bed go to the bathroom and look in the mirror. "Oh good grief, my hairs a mess ugh. It's gonna take forever to fix." I mumble. (Ten minutes later) "finally finished I love this style ( a cute bun on the top of my hair with a tendril of my hair on each side by my face.)
I walk to my room and after like thirty minutes I pick out a wine colored flower tunic and pair it with my favorite lace black jacket. I also wear my dark blue skinny jeans with my black suade combat boots.
For the final touch I'll put on my silver engraved heart necklace.
I walked out my room grinning and skip towards the kitchen. "Finally you're here Lyra. You took way too long to get ready." My mom remarks as I walk into the kitchen. "Here." She tosses a huge fancy letter at me and I catch it.  "Wow. I wonder who sent this fancy letter." I speculated then said "I am so serious right now this better not be from Max." I opened it and took the piece of paper out. "Well, don't just stand there read it!" Mom urged me. "Okay okay geez." "Don't use that tone with me." She says spatula in hand. I start to read. "Congratulations! After looking at your end of sixth grade test, you have been excepted into Harlington Prep Academy in New England. All first year students are expected to purchase uniform rings, a copy of the student handbook, a map of the school and school supplies. All students are allowed to bring one pet from the following approved list. Small dog breeds  Ferrets,  hamsters, turtles, small cat breeds (keep away from dogs!) and rabbits. The supplies list is included in the envelope and directions to get to the school entry way. See you at the start of the year! "

There was a moment of silence while we scanned the school list until... "Yay! I am so proud of you! This will be great I can take you the special shopping center. I remember when I went to Harlington Prep ah, good times." Mom says loudly. "Wow, this school is one of the hardest to get into I feel so special!" I gushed, smiling like a weirdo. "Well, what are we waiting for to diagon alley!" Wait what?!"  I thought to myself "um mom, you do realize that hp isn't real right?" I question. "Oh right I have to explain. Ahem." She starts. "You see Lyra, we come from a long line of pure blooded wizards and witches. But the thing is though, we are different than most. Few people of our blood heritage receive the powers we have.  For example, I have an ability to fly without wings. Now I know that my power isn't  much, but I think that you will have a more amazing power than I could ever dream." "Um, am I being pranked on one of those hidden camera shows?" "No, silly now let's go." Mom laughs as she grabs her purse, grabs my hand and walks out of the door.
