Jack couldn't believe it.
The only home he'd ever known since moving to America was being shut down.
It wasn't much, a small studio in which he held his own shows. Some of which he starred in, some of which he put on and casted others in.
What was he gonna do now? This was his dream, and he'd achieved it for a few years. And now someone came by, started hammering a "foreclosure" sign on the front door, and claimed the building had been scheduled for demolishing a year before he'd purchased it?
What sort of bull shit was that? Now all he had was his few possessions, the clothes on his back, and the empty crate he sat upon outside of the studio.
The green haired man sighed, rubbing at his burning eyes as he tried to find the silver lining.
When one door closes, another one opens right? Hell, he was in America! The promised lands, the land where dreams came true! And the sight of the beautiful lady liberty, standing tall and proud in the near distance should be more than enough to further convince him of that, right?Wrong. He'd been here long enough to know it wasn't that simple. An opportunity for his acting career wasn't going to just walk up to him.
But life has a funny was of proving you wrong.
Just as Jack had begun to think of his next course of action, a man walked up to him, seemingly excited just to see him.
Sean looked up to address the man, noting he appeared to be in his early 30's with no facial hair.
He wore a grey cap atop his brown fluff of hair which seemed to hang in his hazel eyes. It made him all the more handsome if he did say so himself.
"I couldn't help but notice, and sorry if it's a bit of a sore spot, but is that your studio?" He seemed to get increasingly excited.
Jack flinched at the mention of it. "Yeah.. I guess it was.." He looked back at the empty building, "Why do you ask?"
"That means you're an actor, correct?" The hazel eyed male beamed, lending a hand to help him up.
"I am, but again, why do you ask?" Jack accepted the hand, pulling himself up to stand in front of the still unknown man.
"I was hoping to hire someone like you. Your handsome appearance is perfect for the leading role, and your accent would be a real people stopper!" He smiled, his hand still clasped around mine as he shook it excitedly.
I was a bit offset about it, but I flushed anyway at the compliment, "ahh, Thank you, it's nothing special, really. I never caught your name."
"Adam, and what do ya say? Will you join my crew?" He beamed, hope shining in his hazel eyes.
I thought it over for a moment. What could the harm be? It was just an acting gig. Even if the whole situation was a bit... odd, at least he'd get paid!
So he nodded, returning Adams smile with one of his own. Bright, happy, and friendly. "Absolutely. The names Sean by the way, but I prefer Jack. When and where?"
"Here and now actually, I know it's short notice, and there's no time to pack, but we have to head out and get to the filming sight as soon as possible." He said, looking apologetic.
Sean shrugged, managing to pull his hand free to pick up the few bags he had. "I'm all packed actually so, lead the way I guess."
