I scream, pointing my only chance of survival.
"Don't you dare come any closer....!" Cutting me off, I feel a sharp sting pain in my right leg, just beneath my knee. My gun falls to the dirt ground as I collapse with it. In shock and horror, I see legs, feet, falling soldiers, all in a big commotion around me. The supposed guy who shot me runs off yelling at his fellow soldiers,
"I think I got that last of em' mates"
The faint smell of pine and gun powder fills my senses. Eyes slowly shutting, the pain too much for a fragile human like me to handle, my body just about to shut down for a while, then I hear a voice.
"Henrietta! Oh Hen we're are you?" I can hear the panic and shakiness of the voice, a voice I instantly recognize. My eyes shoot open scanning my surroundings. I look around seeing a lot of dead trees, and a lot of lifeless corpses lying helplessly on the land around me. I still don't see anyone one I recognize but I immediately get the feeling of hope that I can move on in trying to save humanity.
"Edgar..." I croak. Finding the strength the day that one word.
Footsteps pound all around, shaking the earth below. A group off soldiers run off in a pack, running the opposite way my small village army came from. One of the men stepped on my arm and I yelped. Just a small faint yelp that no one could possibly hear.
I hear one set of footsteps approaching me. I can't turn my head because I'm losing blood and I might not live to the end. I start panicking in the inside, someones here to finish me off!
Just then a soft finger brushes up against my cheek brushing a strand of hair out of my eyes. I look up to see my best friend, Edgar kneeling beside me.
"Hey, your going to be all right. I'll just apply pressure to your leg to stop the bleeding and I'll wrap it in some gauze okay?" He says gently, looking into my eyes for an answer. He didn't wait for my answer, right away he started cleaning the wound out.
"I can tell it's a bullet wound just by looking at it." He said still examining the cut.
"It didn't stay in your knee. It kind of hit the side and probably landed somewhere on the ground." He says gently dabbing rubbing alcohol on my injured leg.
I winced tensing up. It stung like crazy. I tried not to wiggle , too mess whatever Edgar was doing.
"It will take some time to heal, but you'll be up and going soon. You need to rest, and take this medication." He said handy over a small bottle filled with tiny blue pills.
"Are the soldiers gone?" I ask wearily.
"I checked everywhere, no sign of them. I also checked to see if anyone was alive. No luck there. I mean the soldiers, I haven't checked the village yet though." Edgar said hopping from one foot to the other.
"We're are we going to go.? I bet the soldiers burnt down our homes." I say on the verge of tears. Edgar helped me on to my feet and wrapped one of my arms around his shoulder.
"We'll go slow, so you don't have to put pressure on your leg"
