Odessa looked at Angelica with an adoring smile. Angelica was elegantly twirling and spinning through the crowds. It looked almost as if she were floating.

"Like an angel," Odessa whispered to herself still watching Angie giggle to herself. Odessa shook her head knowing that Angie had one too many tonight.

Odessa heard Eliza giggle next to her. She gave a questioning look cocking one of her eyebrows in hopes that she'll get an answer from Eliza. Eliza said nothing, but pointed her finger at Angelica. She was slowly making her way over hiccuping every now and then with a light pink blush across her cheeks. Odessa couldn't help but give her a longing look, she just couldn't seem to get over how celestial Angie looked tonight. Angelica held out her hand motioning for Odessa to come dance with her. Odessa felt a sweet blush sweep across her face and set her glass down to join the clueless girl.

As Odessa got to her she placed one hand on Angie's hip and the other in the slightly intoxicated girl's hand. They swayed through to the tune of the music, their grace almost effortless (besides the slight stumbles of Angelica of course. That girl did always have two left feet). As the song progressed the girls heads touched, letting the music guide their movements. Their eyes closed ignoring the crowd's stares. Odessa felt at peace, but something deep inside of her knew this wouldn't last long. She pushed that part of her away and continued to focus on her moment with Angelica.

"You know, we haven't danced like this since we were thirteen," Angelica stated with a soft smile resting her head in the crook of Odessa's neck as they continued to dance. Odessa smiled at the memory of them on the balcony watching their mothers dance with their husbands, trying to copy them but tripping over nearly every move.

"I mean," Odessa laughed "how could I forget?"

They both came to an abrupt stop and Angie gasped immediately letting go of her. Odessa sighed knowing who was here. Her shoulders slumped before breathing in and smiling. Eliza watched Odessa pretend like nothing happened and frowned. Odessa walked over to Angelica and the girl Angelica was in love with.

"Hello Renleigh," Odessa greeted softly with a smile. Ren simply nodded her head at Odessa with a smile before looking down at Angie with a loving smile. Angie's eyes lit up and before Odessa knew it both girls were dancing and cheering together singing loudly away from her.

Odessa walked back to her table and sat down tugging her hair in the process. She downed the rest of her drink and grabbed another repeating the process, avoiding the disgusted stares from men. Her eyes welled up with tears. The girl she had been in love with for years was sharing her affections with another woman.

The party soon ended Angie and Renleigh leaving together and Odessa leaving alone...again. That night Odessa slept with tears in her eyes. She couldn't shake the feeling that tonight was different. Tonight everything hurt more and she couldn't understand why. The pain shot through her body and she was suddenly unable to do anything but cry. She sobbed loudly and her hand came up to muffle cries. Her chest felt heavy and she clutched the spot over her heart attempting to take the pain away. She stayed curled up like that for the rest of the night wishing to be numb in the morning.

The next morning Odessa woke up with swollen eyes not clearly remembering when she fell asleep. There was a loud banging on the door and she hurried herself to throw on one of the stolen shirts from an old revolutionary she slept with on one of her many drunken nights. She swung open the door covering her burning eyes from the bright light outside. Angelica was standing there with a huge smile on her face and tackled Odessa in a hug.

"Oddie you will have never guess what happened!!!" Angelica yelled. Odessa just smiled and breathed in her peachy perfume while wrapping her arms around Angelica.

Angelica pulled back from Odessa and brought her left hand up to her face pretending to pin a hair in place. Odessa seen the beautiful emerald on Angelica's finger as bright as day. Odessa felt her insides crumble and she nearly fell over. Odessa mustered up the best smile she could give Angelica trying to fight the nauseous feeling overcoming her.

"Odessa, my dear, you look ill," Angelica said watching Odessa's face pale.

Odessa shook her head," Had a few too many last night, but I'm so happy for you Angie! Have you told Eliza yet?" Odessa questioned trying to take the subject off of her.

Angie shook her head explaining how she was going to spread the new to her her sister and Alex. Odessa tried to focus on what she said but could only think about the immense pain forming in her chest again. Angelica continued to talk and eventually left to go tell her sister. Odessa stumbled her way to the kitchen and sat on the floor with a bottle of her father's brandy and biscuits. Odessa continued to go over her flaws and took a swig between every one she counted. By the end of her list she couldn't see straight and the biscuits were untouched. Tears streamed down her face as she blankly stared at the door that Angelica left out of hours ago.

Odessa needed to get her things ready for Angelica and Ren's reception tomorrow, but couldn't bring herself to get up so she laid her head on cold wooden floors. She didn't know how long it was before she fell into another deep slumber this time hoping to never wake up.
