The day was rainy and foggy but still there was school, the high school Jacqueline attended did not believe in cancelations. So each student had to crawl out of bed at 9:00 am and try to locate there way around.
I woke up ten minutes late so yet again I had to run through the fog, tripping and tumbling my way to the car. My dad says every time I'm late for school I owe him 10 bucks, I'm out of allowance for that deal.
"Honey don't forget your lunch!" My mom shouted from the doorway.
"I didn't mom!"
I hoped in the pick up and told my father to drive me around back of the school, I learned my lesson last time. As I got out I kissed my father goodbye and ran to where my friends were waiting. Gale, my best friend wore her usual, baggy shorts and "Hungry Henry's" t-shirt, at least she could find a job.
"So wanna watch Teen Beach Movie at my house?" Gale asked snacking on her potato chips.
"I can't I have cheerleading try outs"
"Want me to watch?" Gale supported.
"I rather humiliate myself in front of people I don't like"
Gale snickered in between bites of chips and drinks of cool aide. The bell rang.
"See you in home room!" Gale shouted getting carried away by the crowd of people. I walked over to my locker and gloomily punched in the code.
"Hello Jackie" the voice behind me said very perky like.
"Hi Mason!" I sounded a little irritated that he annoyed me well I was opening my locker. I had to get out of there, fast, before he would drag me into his story about falling down a well, again. I grabbed my binder and pencil case, then ran out of there as fast as my legs could carry me. I had to make it three stories up, in two minutes, why did language arts have to be so far up.
"Jackie wait up!" Mason called after me. But I was already gone. I climbed two flights in a minute, that's a new record for me. Then finally managed to run into the classroom right when the bell sounded.
"Class did you get all your paper work done?" The sympathetic voice of Mrs.WhiteChester called out.
Oh crap! I forgot all about my assignment, I'm gonna have to cheat off someone else's. I looked around and found a reasonably good looking paper on the desk next to me, I started writing as fast as I could, until the scary voice of Bethany Ballboy tattles on me.
"Mrs.WhiteChester Jackie is cheating again!" The chapstick on her lips made the word cheating feel awful. Bethany is one of those people who has ten boys on every arm and wears pink in everything, today she had a designer PINK summer dress with PINK leg warmers.
"Jackie detention!"
The bell sounded again. Time for Reading with Mr.Strange, now I have to climb down all the stairs to the first level......yay:( Walking down stairs is easier then up, so I made it into the class with time to spare.
"Hey Jackie you managed to get here on time, surprising!" Bethany screamed from the back room. I was tempted to get up and slap her across the face, I already had detention so what harm would it do.
"Hey Barf......I mean Bethany how did YOU make it to school, in your moms 1970 mustangs?" I screamed back at her, she hated riding in the mustang that wasn't 2017 made, so for her it was out of style.
"Stop it jerk!" Bethany croaked right as the teacher walked in.
"Bethany of all people your the one smack talking!" He seemed heart broken about it. "I thought it would've been Jackie." He looked down at me. "I'm sorry to say this Bethany......detention!"
The look on Bethany's face was priceless, she had the same look as a kid would if their dog just died.
"You don't understand, Jackie started it!" She pointed the pink nail polished finger at me.
"It takes two to fight" He silenced her.
I could tell Bethany started to cry, there goes her straight record. Class finished and she approached me.
"If you take detention off my shoulders then I will give you a ticket to my party" she held her hands out and showed me the pink ticket stating 'YOUR INVITED TO BETHANY'S PARTY' I didn't have any second thoughts.
"Ok deal!" I spit on my hand and shook hers, the repulsed face of Bethany Ballboy looked just like her normal face. I walked back into Mr.Strange's class and closed the door behind me.
"Mr.Strange Bethany is innocent it was Cassie her best friend, I'm a witness!" I stood my ground.
"Will you give Cassie the detention note then, Jackie?"
"Yeah"
I walked out of the class room and Bethany was still there, so was her group of friends.
"So?" Bethany urged.
I grabbed the note and handed it to Cassie. She looked puzzled.
"You didn't tell me how to get the note of your shoulders!" I smirked.
"Fine, Cassie I guess this means you can't make it to my party today!" She did the fake cheek kiss and walked off, after handing me my ticket.
Come to think about it, I have detention too. If Cassie can't make the party because of detention then I can't either! I'm gonna have to skip one of those. The rest of the day seemed blurry, up until homeroom.
"Jackie!" Gale called patting a seat for me.
"I got a ticket to Bethany's party!" I shrieked happily.
"Really....so did I!" She held out the ticket.
"Lets meet some guys there!" I added still happy.
"Blaahhh! Guys that's all you talk about!" Gale moaned kicking me softly in the leg.
"It's because of my mom, she says I'm gonna have to move out when I'm 18 and that means finding a guy, news flash, I'm 17!"
"Fine we can look for guys well were there!" She seemed a little more happy after I told her that.
The day went blurry again. The bell sounded off in the distance. Home, no detention, no the party! I ran to the nearest trash can and threw the note inside it, I rather enjoy life then be stuck in a old room.
"Hey thanks" Bethany passed me. Maybe she wasn't so bad after all. "Are you coming in the car with us?" She asked turning around.
"No I have to run home first and grab a suitable dress, and thanks!" I looked at her with a your-not-so-bad face, and I could tell she was looking at me the same.
