"You've left me twice already! Why don't you understand?! I AM YOUR BEST FRIEND, Matilda!"
"Oh, I understand. But you see, Audrey..."
"Everything comes to an end."
---
Audrey wakes up, surprised that there are tears streaming down. She sees the clock. Six AM. Time to get out of bed. She needs to change if she wants to go outside. Her hair is in a mess, Her pajama was stuck on the pens she used to make a song with yesterday. She takes a shower, and she changes into her boots, black jeans, a plain black sweater. She is too lazy to do anything, so just a side-ponytail will be fine for today.
She ties a purple hairband in her hair, which is the messiest of her entire look.
It's summer and it's warmer outside than ever before.
Audrey notices it's silent. In the entire time she'd walk around in her neighborhood, she saw one or two people walking around. Not more, not less. But she became used to the peaceful atmosphere of her hometown.
She starts her car. 'Here we go,' she says to herself as she accelerates and drives away.Today is the day, Audrey would see her again; Matilda, her best friend. After Matilda moved away the two hadn't spoken in years. They chatted online from time to time, but that was pretty rare since they were always busy. When one of the two would visit the other, (which also rarely happened) they could immediately get along as if they'd never been apart, strangely. Audrey doesn't remember Matilda's face - It's been two years since she had even chatted with her.
In the breaks of elementary school, when Matilda hadn't moved yet, they used to pretend as if their fantasy came to life, which Audrey still does sometimes: pretend as if her fantasy was real.
Just like right now.
Two shadows appear in the backseats of her car.
''Are we leaving already? I thought we were going to catch some bread on the way, but right now you're driving the wrong way.''
Audrey sighs and says: ''Really? You're not real, so buying bread would be useless."
She turns her head and sees the guy she was in love with, out of the game 'Fantasy Whisper'. He has brown hair, and he has different yellow highlights. He wears a large coat that makes him look like some detective, with fitting light brown jeans underneath. His brown boots dirt the car.
''What? Why do your boots dirt the car? That isn't possible!''
''Later, '' He responds dryly.
''Finn, don't be so rude.''
Next to Finn is his father, Jack, who has an extremely complicated backstory which sometimes makes Audrey wonder if he didn't come from another game.Strangely, his looks don't represent his personality at all: he's just wearing a suit, black shoes with laces, and a golden tie. His hair is blue-purplish.
His shoes also leave a track of sand.
It's not possible because they are just my fantasy, you must not be awakened, Audrey thinks.
''I'm hungry.''
Jack looks Audrey in the eyes.
''FINE.''
Audrey turns.Audrey arrives at a small bakery, letting Jack and Finn stand outside to not distract her.
"Hey, Audrey!"
The baker, Xander Davis, had been her mother's co-worker for a long time. After her mother died, he had taken her in and cared for her. He got her everything she needed, including the job she currently has.
"Hey dad," Audrey responded.
Even though he's taken her in when she was younger, it still feels weird to Audrey to call him 'dad'.
