I felt like I was being stifled. I had grown accustomed to my freedom at the Night court, and now I'm guarded at all times, and still not allowed to go far on my own, because whilst Tamlin was glad I was back, he refused to leave me completely unguarded. I sigh.
As I descend the stairs, I see Lucian, and his eyes narrow. But I breeze part, ignoring him. Right now, I can't be bothered or distracted by him, not yet, but I knew the time would come when I would get him to help me. Everything relied on him not telling Tamlin about what his suspicions were, about me, about Rhys. But I was sure he wouldn't, while he was devoted to Tamlin to a T, I knew Tamlin didn't give to shakes of a lamb's tail about Elaine, after all, why would he? She could gain him nothing. And I knew what I would do, what the plan was, I would offer to help him get elain back, and in exchange, he would keep my secret, and help me gain information.
I needed to pretend to be devoted to Tamlin, and that what Rhys has done to me had turned me off any part of physical love. I couldn't bare the thought of bedding Tamlin when I had a beautiful, devoted mate waiting for me in the night court. It half killed me to pretend that Rhys had been anything less than perfect to me, but I needed to keep up this façade, for me, for Rhys, for my night court family, and for the whole continent of innocent humans.
I walk into the dining room with a confident smile on my face, I would fool them, I would be the small, frail Feyre Tamlin wanted me to be, and I would be the best spy Rhys could wish for.
