In the early years everyone thought that the future would be wonderful. They thought that there would be silver palaces that touched the sky, complex technology that would obey their commands, wonderful luxuries, and peace. Well, they were all wrong.

Many stories have been passed down through people in my family line, and these stories have recently reached my ears. The stories tell of the rise and fall of technology. These stories need to be told if my story is to be understood.

Everyone has great ideas for the future, but how do we know if the future can hold our ideas? What if our ideas become too heavy of a load for the future to carry. What would the future do? Would it carry the heavy load or throw it back at us?

I know not what my future will do, but I do know what my ancestors' future did. It threw their extravagant ideas back at them! Technology and the day's electricity couldn't handle the sudden burst of inovation.

Electricity became sparce, and only the rich could afford it. They secluded themselves from the rest of the world and enjoyed their luxuries alone; leaving the poor to fend for themselves. They built cities with great walls around them, to ensure that none of the poor could damper their fun.

Science bloomed in these cities, and new experiments began to be brought to the light. The biggest experiment of them all was the Cross Breed experiment in which Scientists married human and animal cells together to form cross-bred Humanimal test-tube beings, more commonly known as Underlings.

The Scientists brought these Underlings up in a prison-like invironment and used them as test dummies for their studies. It didn't take long for the Underlings to rise up against the Scientists, though. These uprisings resulted in many Scientist deaths and billions of dollars in laboratory wreckages.

To stop the Underling rampages, the World Leaders decided to free them and let them live with the poor outside of city walls. For many years, the Underlings got along with the poor population and the two species, Humans and Humanimals, lived peacefully. The Underlings began to marry their own kind and soon they multiplied.

This is where History's story ends, and my story begins. I'm Fawna. I'm an Underling.
