It's just a phase

chapter 4: The truth

I really wondered where they had gone, I sat home alone for hours with not much to do. I was sitting on the couch staring at the Nirvana poster, when I heard muffled voices coming from outside. I snuck to the window to take a peek at who it was, and I saw Kelly and Alexis. A little further back, I saw Matt talking to people that I couldn't really see, but I knew that it was a girl and a guy. When they got a little bit closer, I saw that the girl was Lilly and the guy was Yohan. I was kind of surprised, so I rushed to the door to greet them. They walked into the house, and said that they were taking care of somethings when they came across Lilly and Yohan. They also said that they brought them here because they was looking for me. I was a little bit happy that they came looking for me, it made me feel like someone cared. And it was also nice to have someone that knew you well around. Lilly and Yohan wanted me to go back with them but I refused, I didn't want to return to that dump of a town where I felt unwanted, but I pleaded for them to stay. After a while, they finally agreed to stay, and Alexis let them stay at the house with us. We were just chilling at home for a while, I told them about everything that happened while I was in blueville, and they told me everything that I missed that happened back home, turned out that my mother felt a sworm of regret and guilt the past few weeks. I have to admit, although she was the reason why I left, I kind of missed her and felt bad for running away. But I knew that if I went back, I would seem weak and nothing would change. We discussed a little while longer then I remembered to ask Yohan why he was upset while on the phone the day I left. Yohan and Lilly looked at each other then Yohan took a little sigh. He was hesitating in telling me but after a while, he finally did. He was gay. He told me that he had just come out to his parents and they didn't accept it, they even kicked him out and he lived with Lilly for a little while before coming to look for me. I was so proud of Yohan for coming out to me and I didn't care if he was gay or not, he was still my bestfriend. We talked a little bit more, then we decided to head out to little Alfie's. On the way there, we crossed paths with Eva and I went up to her to say hello, but she was in tears and seemed worried for me, she said that she had something to say to me and that it was time I'd know the truth. She pulled me to the corner and and whispered in my ear that Matt wasn't who I thought he was. She told me that she was part of his squad and they rebelled against society. She said that one day, they were so upset that they decided to break into this guy she called Moneo's house because he was constantly telling them how to live their lives, but it went horribly wrong. They were wondering his house and brought a gun for self dieffense.  Moneo was home earlier than planned and the gang started to worry. he walked into the room they were in, and as a reflex, Matt shot the gun while the rest of the team escaped from the window, But before leaving, something caught Eva's eye, It was some sort of golden necklace that had a small pocket in the middle. She grabbed it and followed the rest. It turned out that Matt shot Moneo's eye, which half blinded him. When he threatened to press charges, the gang blackmailed him with illegal things he had done in the past. That night, the squad gathered up at Alexis' house when Matt noticed that Eva was wearing Moneo's charm necklace. He pulled her to the side and told her what she did was wrong. they got into a fight and Matt told Eva to leave and never return. Moneo came back years later to take his revenge.  He was the one that shot Matt in the arm, and when he said "give me back what was mine" he meant the charm that Eva stole. The whole story itself shocked me, by that time I was asking myself so many different questions. I would never be able to see Matt as the same person after finding out that he blinded an innocent man, but the real thing that had me all confused was why the charm meant so much to Moneo that he would shoot Matt in the arm for it. I asked Eva if she still had the charm and she said that it was at her apartment. I told Yohan and Lilly that I would catch up with them, and left for Eva's apartment with her. When we got there, Eva showed me the necklace. It was beautifully covered in pure gold and little green gems were stuck the bottom, although it wasn't worth shooting someone in the arm for. I looked at it a while longer and noticed that there was a slit on the side, the necklace had something inside of it. Eva and I had many attempts in opening it, but nothing would work. Until our last try, it fell to the ground and suddenly opened. What was inside  had shocked me, I didn't expect for it to be something like that.
