The doctor looked at me as if he was in shock.

"What is your name?"

What?! Did he just ask me some crap like that?? Although, that is a good question. what is my name?

"I.....I don't know...." My heart broke a little when I said these words and hung my head in disappointment. The doctor lifted my head.

"It's okay. You just have amnesia. You shouldn't have it for long and everything will be back to normal."

"Everything won't be back to normal! I won't have the dad who look so nice and sweet. Who will beat up any little nigga that try and play with my heart. I won't have the beautiful mom who will teach me how to drive and help me during prom. I won't have my little sister who will look up to me and steal my clothes. I won't have the little brother who thinks he need to know everywhere I'm going because he thinks since he's a guy he can protect me. I won't have any of that. How the hell will my life be back to normal?!" I started to cry again. This time the women came over to me, sat down, and embraced me. I stopped crying but continued to sniffle. I looked her in her eyes and went into deep thought again.

"Tag you're it!" little kids said as they ran around outside. It looks like a cookout. I looked around and saw kids with jump ropes, hula hoops, and a pool. A POOL! I ran full speed and cannon balled into the pool. Why did I just do that? I can't swim! I panic frantically until someone pulled me up. "There there booka, Aunt Tammie gotcha. There you go. Let it out Aunt Tammie.......Tammie.......Tammie"

I came back from my thoughts, blinking multiple times while looking at the women. "Aunt Tammie?"

Tears began to flow in her eyes.

"Doctor, doctor! Does this mean she has her memory back?"

"I'm not sure, let's ask her. Hon, do you remember anything."

I didn't know how to answer this. I didn't remember anything, but I knew that this women was Aunt Tammie.

"Uhh, no. I just know that this is Aunt Tammie. I...."

"It's fine, I understand"

Aunt Tammie hugged me once again before getting up. She and the doctor walked outside leaving me in pity confusion, but I wasn't gonna sit here and do nothing. I moved the sheets to see that I had one broken leg.

Hmm, a challenge. Let's go. First I hugged my leg with a flat back. Gosh I must be a dancer. Then swung my good leg down while I continued to hug the broken leg until it was carefully on the ground. I looked around to find something to hold my balance with. I guess this chair will be fine. I grabbed the chair as I hobbled to the end of my bed where I found the chart.

Name: Destiny Carter

Age: 16

Birthday: March 15

Description: Horrible car accident with family. One broken leg. Cuts and bruises.

Date: October 17

If that was October 17, what is today? I thought as a search to the best of my ability for an answer

"When will she able to go home?" I over heard Aunt Tammie ask the doctor.

"Well, most of her cuts and bruises are healed and she's awake. Now, I understand it's the holiday season but if she goes home, please do not over work her with dozens of family member. Just let her eat with family and friends to try and restore her memory."

I didn't want to hear any more. It was nothing devastating but nothing meaningful. The only holidays near this time is thanksgiving and Christmas. I was out for damn near two months?! I thought as I hobbled back to my bed. As soon as I sat down and began to put my legs up the doctor and Aunt Tammie walked in and ran over to me in a frantic panic trying to help me back onto the bed.

"I'm fine!" I couldn't help but say.

"Well then, we were discussing when you are able to go back home. We've decided you can go back on Friday" said the doctor while looking at his clipboard.

"What's today?"

"Wednesday."

"What about the date?"

"November 14."

I sat in silence. Thinking about how much I did not want to stay here for two more days.

I sigh and was told to go to sleep. I did, hoping this was all a dream and not the beginning of a nightmare.
