An extravagant blue and white hue molded the gym. Who would've thought the place I dreaded during my Freshman year could withhold the potential to be an aesthetic. As Justin and I greeted it, I stared at it in awe.
Justin's warm, muscular hand carrassed my fragile one as we glided into the gym with ease. There was something more angelic about him tonight. His tone, presense, even his stride held a purity to it.
I had hardly remembered this event was approaching us so fast, but when Justin offered to take me dress shopping since I clearly had no female friends I felt my heart warm up and sink at the same time. It was nice to know I had someone as loving and consideration as him on my side, but knowing I had no one else was kind of sad. I hoped my father wouldn't strip Justin from me like he had done with everything and everyone else. I no longer had Chaz and if Justin was out of the picture, I would be alone. Completely this time.
A light squeeze of my hand and a reassuring look greeted me. A handful of my dress was in my hand and I admittedly let it go.
"I apologize again that we didn't get to do the traditional I pick you up, walk in shake the hands of your parents and pose for their lenses."
A gave off a small smile. As nice as that would've been in a different situation, I liked that he still attempted to make this night special.
"Essentially you did. You left me with your mom and acted as if you were picking me up. It was cute and tops the simple thought of anything else, otherwise." I admitted, my cheeks completely flushed.
"It still doesn't feel like enough."
"It was more than enough. I love you and I'm thankful for you each and everyday."
"I love you more, beautiful." He grinned, showing off his pearly whites.
Justin and I decided to take a photo, there was a small area where a photographer stood, snapping away at groups of friends or couples. Some smiled while others striked embellishing poses.
"Aye, Justin." The photographer greeted, eyeing him with a warm smile and then glancing at me briefly.
"John." He called, giving off a toothy grin as he cleaned the hem of his blazer. I noticed he brushed off the end of my gown as well. I blushed.
"Great work the other day. The footage came out nice. Maybe some of us can collaborate one day."
"I can't take all the credit; thanks to you guys I experienced my first interview and got a promo clip out of it. I appreciate the team's hard work. I'm sure my management could set something up." Justin's eyes met mine and a soft smirk grazed his face as he sucked his cheeks lightly.
A flash went off before our eyes. I smiled while Justin simply smirked. His eyes were glistening however, I knew he was as happy as I was. This moment was beyond unreal and I didn't necessarily want it to end."I'll be sure to let you know if I get confirmation. It's Vanessa, right?"
"Yes." The two of us said in unison and I playful rolled my eyes in Justin's direction. He was so protective. I appreciated it, but I couldn't with him.
With Justin's hands placed on my waist and my finger tips teasing the nape of his neck, I felt content. Slow music echoed and we swayed. His warm finger tips played with my lower back as he pulled me closer and he hummed.
"You're so beautiful." He whispered on my neck.
"I feel beautiful, thanks to you. You look rather nice in a suit as well." I teased.
"Rather nice? Oh really? I'm pretty sure you tried to hit on me multiple times after we left my house."
"Oh please. I was simply joking."
"Yeah, ok Van." He chuckled.
The night was filled with laughter and simple soothing compliments here and there. I saw Ryan and Chaz, not with anyone particular, but they still seemed to be having a great time. Ryan had his camera attached to his hand and Chaz gripped a drink in his. The boys looked nice. They looked like the same boys I had known when I was younger. So innocent, loving, and sweet, but I knew we were no longer attached at the hip. We were beyond distant and I hadn't realized how much it actually bothered me until I saw them meet my gaze. Justin had left my side momentarily, to simply mingle with Dwayne and the other boys. He also offered to bring me some punch, but I declined. I didn't want a spiked drink.
Ryan lifted up his camera and a flash went off, causing me to blush. Chaz simply nodded his head at me. Not saying a word or giving off any vibe of the old him. I started to walk in there direction, but I hurriedly stopped myself.
"You both look nice." I mouthed over at them a couple of times. Chaz sent me a thumbs up before placing his solo cup down and parting ways with Ryan. Although, I expected that from Ryan and not Chaz, I understood why he wasn't trying to make amends with me anymore. It was best that way anyways. Ryan on the other hand, simply sent me a thank you along with a small blush. One I'm sure he regretted.
