Natalie's POV
I threw open the front door, dragging my Netball bag along behind me. I headed straight towards the bathroom ready to wash all the sweat that had gathered on my body away. As I walked down the hall, I heard miscellaneous shouts coming from the kitchen. I assumed it was Lia talking on the phone with her manager about the tour dates, but then I heard my name mentioned, so I pulled myself behind the door to listen and soon realised that the conversation was about whether I would be joining my sister on tour or not.
My sister was an up and coming singer, she was actually starting to get pretty big, she had been named the biggest pop sensation of 2016. She had started out on youtube, singing covers of songs, but not showing her face, soon she got noticed by record companies and before we knew it she was signed to Golden Rose Records. As she started to have less and less time for Youtube I started to take over her channel, I as well don't show my face.
"She needs to stay to focus on her studies!"
"Her well-being matters more than her education, she needs to forget about the past and move forward!" I heard my mother yell.
"She needs to stop blocking everyone out but you" she whispered.
I looked down at the floor guiltily, knowing how unfair I had been on my family and friends, but I couldn't face them after they found out what happened.
"In the end, Tay needs to decide," said My Twin Sister
I heard footsteps coming towards the door and I quickly dashed away towards the bathroom and tried to forget about the conversation that I had just heard. As I rushed down the hall, I hear footsteps coming after me. As soon as I make it into the bathroom I shut the door and locked it. I leant against it holding my breath until I heard the footsteps fade away. I sank down to the ground and rested my head on my knees.
Why do I do this to them, I thought to myself as a single tear fell down my cheek. I need to change but I don't know how to do it. I can't get past the memories of what happened.
I stayed in this position resting my head on my knees for a few minutes until a loud knock on the door pulled from my thoughts.
"Y...yeah.?" I asked my throat hoarse from crying.
"How long will you be?" My mum asked
"Uh..um....10 minutes...?" I told her, but it came out sounding more like a question than a statement.
After my mum's footsteps faded away, I slowly stood up, walking over to the sink, I connected my phone to the Bluetooth shower speaker and set it to play the new album by The Sly Sky Guys, As I walked over to the shower I caught a glimpse of my reflection in the mirror.
I see why it is easy for me to go unnoticed, I thought to myself. My hair went down to my ribcage and was a dull, boring brown with dyed light blue ends, it was something I did to try to make a new me. My eyes are a dull blue colour, I have no idea where I got the colour from seeing as no-one else in my family has that colour eyes. My sister says that they look like the ocean but I think it looks dull and plain.
She was lucky, she has long, bright copper coloured hair that seemed to shine no matter if she was inside, had not washed her hair in 4 days or if she had just played basketball. Her eyes are a beautiful, sparkling sea green that she got from our Mum. She is practically a model and she had the height for it, being 6'1 whereas as I am only an inch taller at 6'2 but I looked gangly and disproportioned.
I am always mentally comparing myself to her, I try not to but it is hard to help it when she is always on magazine covers and posters everywhere. I know that she can't help that she became so famous. I know she enjoys what she does but sometimes I wished that we were a normal family. I wished that she wasn't famous and we could be normal sisters that do normal things like going shopping and going on walks, but that was not possible with the way that life was now.
