I woke up bright and early this morning. I wanted to make sure that I looked good and was on time for my interview. I stopped at the business center at the hotel to print a copy of my resume, then went to get ready. After showering and blow drying my hair I changed into my black pants, white cap sleeved fitted shirt and put on a canary yellow blazer over. I left my hair down with some curls at the ends. The blazer complimented my chestnut brown hair. I left my makeup light. On my way out the door I threw on my black pumps.
Lance sent me the address of the office, I decided to take an Uber to ensure that I wasn't late. Once I arrived at the building I realized this was the big time, the very tall glass building was very intimidating. I took a deep breath and walked inside. Since I didn't know where I was going I walked up to the receptionist.
"How can I help you?" The very energetic lady at the desk asked.
"Yes I am here for an interview with Mr. Wyatt." I said kindly.
"Oh, you must be Ms. Parker. Please, take the elevator to the left and go up to the 20th floor, you will meet Janice and she will show you to his office."
"Thank you." I said as I headed in the direction she was pointing and walked over to the elevator. Once I pressed the button for the floor I could feel my palms start to sweat. I hadn't been on an interview in five years and I wasn't sure what to expect. With every number change I felt my heart rate increase. Then the doors opened, I took one very long cleansing breath and stepped off. There was an older lady sitting at a desk in front of me, I walked up to her.
"Hi, are you Janice?" I asked politely.
"Yes, and you must be Ms. Parker, welcome. Please follow me to Mr. Wyatt's office." She replied standing up. I gave a smile and followed. The hallway was long and I have yet to see another person. We walked all the way to the end and through a door. Inside was a small waiting room/office space.
"Have a seat, I will see of they are ready for you." She said and quickly walked into the office.
'They?' I thought to myself. 'How many people am I meeting?' I sat there for a few moments until I heard the door open. Janice walked out at motioned for me to come over. I slowly stood up and fixed my clothes before walking in. The office was huge. I saw one man sitting at the desk, he was an older gentleman with salt and pepper hair. On the other side of the desk was a younger man, he had short brown hair, as I got closer both men stood up, the older gentleman reached me first.
"Good morning Ms. Parker, I am Lucas Wyatt, and this is my son Aaron." He said extending his hand out. I shook both their hands.
"It is a pleasure to meet both of you, thank you for the opportunity." I replied.
"Please, have a seat." He said motioning toward his desk. Lucas sat at his desk and Aaron took a seat next to me.
"Mr. Carter is a good friend of mine, he was upset that he had to let you go. He assured me you are the best." He started.
"He is too kind, it was a joy to work for him." I replied.
"So, you were with him for five years?" Aaron asked me.
"That is correct, Mr. Wyatt."
"Now Ms. Parker, as I am sure you can tell these offices are of a higher volume than you are use to, are you prepared for that?" Lucas asked.
"I can assure you sir, that I am not intimidated by the amount of work that would be required, I believe my experience speakers for itself." I said with confidence in my voice.
"Someone thinks very highly of them-self." Aaron said with a cocky attitude.
"Aaron, that is not appropriate. Ms. Parker I do apologize for my sons behavior."
"Its alright Mr. Watt, i guess your son is just intimidated by a strong-willed woman." I replied with a smile on my face. I could see out of the corner of my eye that he was shifting in his seat. I watched his father just smile and look over at his son.
After an hour long interview, The two men stood up and shook my hand.
"Ms. Parker, it was a pleasure meeting you." Lucas said to me.
"Thank you Mr. Wyatt. Thank you both for your time." I replied and started to walk out of the office. I took a huge sigh of relief as I reached the elevator.
"Ms. Parker!" I heard my name being called, I turned to find Aaron Wyatt flagging me down.
"Yes, Mr. Wyatt?" I asked.
"What do you say about coming into tomorrow at nine o'clock?"
"For What exactly?" I questioned raising an eyebrow.
"To fill out paperwork and discuss your salary." He replies with a smile.
"Sure, I will be here." I said happily.
"Great, I will meet up with you right here."
"Thank you so much Mr. Wyatt." I said as the elevator doors opened and I stepped inside.
"Please, call me Aaron." He replied with a smile. I nodded as the doors closed.Authors Note
