The Other Sister
Chapter 1
It was the day of Emily's sleepover for her birthday and Annaline was excited. Her parents knew she wouldn't be at the house that night, and while they weren't happy about it, they weren't going to make her stay either. As she finished wrapping Emily's gift, the door bell sounded. She was the only one at the house for the moment, so she went to answer it and was surprised at who she saw outside. Jase.
"Hey," She said when she opened the door. She gave him a quick hug. He quickly hugged her back. "What are you doing here?"
"I decided I would come pick you up. The two of us could have some time to ourselves before the party." He told her, following her inside.
"Well, let me grab my stuff." She said, quickly heading to her room upstairs. When she didn't hear footsteps following her, she turned back to Jase. "Are you not coming up?"
"I didn't know if I could." He said, moving to follow her. "I haven't been here much, so I didn't know if you wanted me to follow you."
"Come on," She said, grabbing his hand. He intertwined their fingers. Annaline loved the feeling she got from that simple motion, but she was also scared. She didn't want to rush into anything. "Come and see my room."
They didn't speak till they made it to her room. She didn't mind. Over the last week the silence between them just grew to be comfortable. They didn't have to speak to each other. They just enjoyed being with each other.
They made it to her room and she opened the door.
"This is my room." She said. He smiled, letting go of her hand to look around.
"I didn't imagine it to look like this, but this certainly does fit you." He said. She laughed.
"What did you imagine it to look like?" She asked. "Better yet, why were you imagining what my room look like?"
"I didn't imagine the really light, girly colors on the walls. I figured you would have the walls be white or something." He said. "And I wanted to know what the room would look like, so I imagined it the way I thought it would be."
"You wanted to see my room?" She asked. He laughed slightly.
"Yeah, is that a problem?" He asked, slipping his arms around her waist from behind. His head was close to her ear and he was whispering as he spoke. She knew what he was trying to do.
"No, but what would you say if I told you I wanted to see your room?" She asked, running her nails softly over his arms. She could feel him shudder slightly. She knew then that she had him exactly where she wanted him.
"I... Uh... I..." He stuttered out. Annaline laughed slightly.
"Now, Jase, did you really fall for that?" She asked, turning around in his arms. He had a look in his eyes she couldn't describe, as she had never seen it directed towards herself before.
"You," He said, leaning down to touch her forehead with his. "You are something else."
"You love it." She said, looking him in the eyes. They were still a dark, forest green instead of his usual bright, emerald green. He smiled softly.
"Yeah, I do." He said. "You're normally kind of quiet, so I love when you start teasing me."
"Come on, help me grab my stuff and we can leave." She said, reluctantly breaking away from him. She knew that it wasn't a good idea to get too close to him. He was a player after all. She didn't want to become another one of his girls.
