AN: hello, my people! I have a special little message for y'all. Seriously, every single vote and comment I've gotten throughout writing this fic is way more than I expected, which makes me super hyped. I'm so glad that my ideas and writing style can appeal to other people, since I'm striving to be a game designer/developer (which, as I'm sure you all know, requires a lot of creativity!)

And a little more background on myself because I feel like sharing: I started watching RWBY as Volume 2 was coming to a close, and I was instantly captivated by the characters and story. My RWBY-loving friends and I agree that Ruby and I have a lot in common personality-wise, like how we're both innocent and a little dense, but we're compassionate and can be serious when we need to be. I loved watching the comical arguments between our beloved Ruby and Weiss and found myself shipping them like the Titanic before long.

Oh, yeah! I wanted to mention that I binge read this amazing white rose fanfic by @DeathUponDeath_A27 called "Clashing Sounds" and you should all check it out. It's kinda similar to En Garde! in terms of plot development. It's completed, but it's super long and I believe is going to have/does have a sequel. Alright, that's it from me. On to the chapter! Sorry if there are any big mistakes, as SOMEONE hasn't edited this chapter (yet).

Ruby sat alone in her room, spinning in circles on her swivel chair. The same text she'd sent to Weiss five minutes ago glared in her face:

Ruby: How'd it go w ur dad?

Not long after their... intimate conversation, Blake came out of Yang's room to tell Weiss they needed to leave immediately. Mr. Schnee had called soon after the storm showed signs of letting up, and he "wouldn't wait any longer for his precious daughter to come home safe and sound."

Well, that's what Blake relayed, but all four of them knew better.

Ruby had never seen Weiss more reluctant to do anything than when she left that morning, but she promised that she'd text at the nearest opportunity. It didn't need to be mentioned that calling would be risky. So, when Ruby's message box remained empty for over an hour, she couldn't wait any longer. The desire to at least see a text message from Weiss was an annoying itch she couldn't scratch, no matter how badly she needed to.

When she thought she was going to explode from anxiety, Ruby's phone finally buzzed. She scrambled to get out of her slouched position and ended up falling to the floor with a clumsy thump.

Weiss: So-so.

Ruby: What's that mean?

Weiss: He was upset that I left, but Blake must have spun some crazy story to convince him that I wasn't... well, you know.

Ruby laughed, picturing the look of embarrassment on her face.

Ruby: U know ur secrets r safe with me. ;) He didn't punish u or anything?

The response had a a longer delay than usual.

Weiss: He forbade me from leaving the estate without his permission for a month, with the exception of school. I know I promised to go to your next match, Ruby, but it's too big of a risk now. I'm sorry.

As bummed as Ruby was, she understood the situation perfectly.

Ruby: Don't worry about it. I know you'll be rooting for me :)
