Rain.

Always rain.

It never seemed to end lately.

My nose rested on my paws as I watched the cold, endless water fall from the sky. The stinging pain in my heart seeming to get worse with every drop. How could he be so heartless, how could my own father disown me, and not even tell me why!

Three months ago

"Happy birthday!" my brothers barged through my door shouting at the top of their voices, I groaned and sat up in bed rubbing my eyes drowsily (I was not a morning person) and turned to glare at them.

Nathaniel, 19, James, 17, and Oscar, 14, were keeping a wide distance from my bed knowing from experience I wasn't the nicest person after just waking up.

"Happy birthday!" a voice sang from outside my room, my mother danced into my room, dropped a parcel on my bed and kissed me on the forehead quickly moving to make way for my father who had entered in her wake.

"Happy birthday, darling," he smiled also kissing my forehead, he sat down next to me braving my morning mood.

I looked around at my family, all watching me expectantly.

"Good morning everyone!" I beamed, I giggled as I watched them all relax.

"So," Oscar said excitedly siting down in my bed, "What are we doing for the day?"

"Its your birthday so its your choice," Nathaniel pipped in moving closer.

"Today..." I said building the suspense, "we are going to throw the best party ever!!" I threw my arms up in the sky for dramatic effect, and beamed at my family, my mother clapped her hands and left the room, calling over her shoulder, "I've got it all planned just let me make some calls!"

I smiled my mother had been planning the party for weeks now, she used to work as a wedding/party planner, but had to give it up when she met my dad, being the mate of the alpha of the strongest pack in the country had it's downfalls.

"Boys would you be so kind as to go help your mother?" my fathers voice broke me from my thoughts I looked up as my brothers filled out of my room, closing the door softly behind them.

My eyes turned expectantly to my father.

"Ah Dalia, it seems you've grown over night," he looked at me sadness showing in his eyes "Tonight you'll under go your first change before the whole pack," I nodded I already knew this, when a Were turns sixteen they under go their first change the night of their birthday, and the whole pack came to show their support for the Were, and of course, once a Were turns sixteen they can find their mate...

"Dalia? DALIA?? are you even listening to me?" my eyes shot back to my father.

"yes, of course I'm listening!" I replied startled from my thoughts for the second time that morning.

I watched as my fathers grey eyebrows rose in disbelief, "What did I just ask then?"

"Uhh.. well.. you.. umm..." my father sighed shaking his head, chuckling, "I asked if you had thought about who your mate will be?"

"M-m-my m-mate?" my father burst out laughing, "perhaps you are to young for such talk yet," I could feel my face turning red, as I slapped my fathers arm softly, "Its not funny!" i cried, my father just continued to laugh.

I stared at my reflection in the mirror, my dark blonde hair fell in soft curls around my face, reaching just past my shoulders, my crystal blue eyes framed by black eyeliner and mascara trailed down my reflection, Mandy (my best friend) and I had gone shopping ages ago for the perfect outfits, my older brothers had set a reputation for throwing the best parties at school, so Mandy had decided that it was my job to keep up the family reputation, so we had worked with my mum to make it an epic party. And of course spent hours looking through dresses, Mandy finally settling on a cute yellow dress, and I a gorgeous deep purple dress with stopped just above my knees.

"Dalia!" Mandy called from my bedroom,

"Yeah?" I replied walking out from the bathroom, Mandy was standing by my bed a small parcel in her hand. "Whats this?" she asked handing it to me, it was the parcel my mum had given me this morning, slipping my finger under the wrapping I pulled it off to  reveal a small purple velvet box, flipping it open I gasped. Inside the box was a small silver locket with our family coat of arms on it, it was beautiful, "Wow," Mandy murmured looking over my shoulder, "Are you going to wear it? It would look great with your dress," I nodded to shocked to say anything, Mandy took the box and placed the locket around my neck. I turned to the mirror on the wall across from my bed, my finger traced along the delicate surface, "its perfect," I whispered, then turned to Mandy, "people are starting to get here, we should go down to the party!" I beamed at her, and linking arms we walked out of my room, to the party below.
