"Sarah! Wake up sugar muffin!" My daddy yells from downstairs. Yes, I call him daddy. You see, I'm adopted. I can't just call both of my dad's dad. So, I call one dad, and one daddy. Daddy is the more playful one, the one who I can tell anything to. And dad is, well, more serious. But I love them more than anything.

"Sarah! Your M&M pancakes are getting cold!" Daddy yells.

"I'll be down soon!" I shout back. I jump out of my bed and walk to the mirror. I messily run my fingers through my hair and throw on my normal eyeliner and mascara. I run to my closet and sigh. What to wear, what to wear. This was going to be my last year of high school and then I'd be off to college. Wow, crazy to think. I was going to be one of the oldest people in school! Well, apart from my teachers.

"Sarah!" Daddy complains. He never was patient.

"What a second," I yell. I quickly take off my purple pajamas and put on some dark blue jeans and a light orange shirt. I put on some orange bangles to make myself look a bit more classy, and I rush downstairs.

"Finally!" Daddy sighs before hugging me and handing me my backpack and lunch. "I thought you were gonna skip!"

I gave him a blank stare, "We both know that dad wouldn't let me skip."

"Just go already and meet Kaelee outside before she leaves without you!" He says as he pushes me out of the door. Kaelee was my best, and only friend. She was totally obsessed with how she looked, she wouldn't eat anything with fat or sugar in it, which really narrows down what you can eat. Today she was wearing light blue short shorts and a bright pink shirt, along with bright pink high heels. And, as usual, every strand of her hair was in place.

"Sarah! You are not wearing flip-flops!" She complains as she points to my faded orange sandals.

"It's just school," I shrugged and giggled.

"Yeah, with boys!" She exclaimed and stopped walking.

"Boys are the last thing on my mind." I sighed, and stopped walking as well. What I had just said was true, I was planning on going to a very good school so I could follow my dream of being a nurse. I knew that a boyfriend would definitely take my attention away from school, and I didn't need that.

"You're so lame," she sighs. I ignored her and continued walking.

"When are you gonna let me meet your parents?" She asked. "You've been inside my house plenty of times over summer break. Why can't I go to yours?"

I knew this day would come. I never, ever, let anyone inside of my house. I  didn't want anyone to know about my dad and daddy. I remember a kid last year who got bullied every day and I knew that people wouldn't think twice about making fun of me for my parents being gay.

"Are your parents like, weirdos?" She asked rudely.

"No, of course not." I tried cutting the conversation short, but it wasn't working.

"I want to meet your parents." She decided, "After school,I'm coming over."

Hello, I'm Sarah Auturme. And I guess you could say this was the start of my downfall.
