A/N: I'm really starting to like writing this book and I hope you guys are starting to like reading it. So for people who don't know, I'm not a very good updater so sometimes it takes a day or two other times it will take a week. That's just because I haven't gotten very good at setting an exact date for an update. Sorry for the inconvenience.

*~*~*~*
"Okay, bedtime!" I called, scooping Gloria up and putting a firm hand on Mario's shoulder. They finished showering and had their pajamas on. After I had them asleep, I was going to hop in the shower like I did every night.
"Already?" they whined in unison.
"Yes, it's eight o'clock. Now come on. Get in bed." I laid Gloria down and turned on her night light.
"Good night, Ale."
"Night you guys." I turned off the night and closed the door half way and started down the hall towards the bathroom.
" Alejandro." I turned and she signaled me to come to her.
"Yes?"
"Are they in bed?"
"Yes."
"Why aren't you? It's eight o'clock! Go to bed!" She was drunk again. I was sure of it.
"Mom, you're gonna wake them up. I'm just gonna go take a shower."
"I don't care! Go to bed!" She threw her hand across my face and there was nothing I could do about it because she was my mom and I knew she was drunk.
"Just go relax. Go watch some TV."
"Don't tell me what to do!" She threw her hand up again to slap me, but I grabbed her wrist and pushed her back, closing the door.
"Whatever, mom," I mumbled, walking to the bathroom. Once in, I locked the door, just in case my mom got her second wind. I looked at my cheek in the mirror and frowned. It was pretty red, but hopefully it wasn't by morning. Wouldn't want anyone to see this. That would not be attractive if I said,"Yeah, I got slapped by my drunk mom."
I turned on the water, looked at my cheek one last time, then undressed and hoped in the tub.
*~*~*~*
After my shower, I wrapped a towel around my waist and wiped off the foggy mirror. I heard my mom and her boyfriend and the living room talking louder than any normal person should. Never mind. She was just telling him how amazing his kisses were. Ew.
I went to my room and changed into basketball shorts and a tee shirt, then went to go check on Gloria and Mario. Gloria was whining, having a bad dream again, so I picked her up and took her into my room with me. Gloria started crying and mom was still buzzed. She stood up and walked towards us.
"Gloria? Ale! What are you doing?!"
"I'm just taking her to my room. It's okay. She's having a bad dream."
"Get her out of here! She's making too much noise!" Gloria clung to my neck while I opened the door to my room and laid her down.
"What's wrong with mommy?" Gloria murmured.
"She's just having a bad day. Tomorrow she'll be okay." She dosed off a few minutes later. I stroked her hair to keep her relaxed. I hated how at school I was the popular guy but at home I was just as bad as anyone else.. I guess that's just how life worked sometimes.
I was happy when I finally fell asleep. I could dream, or not, and just finally relax.
