Chapter 6

*Joey POV*
As I walk in her eyes light up. I smile and go over to the bed.
"Hi mr. Joey" she says
"Hey trinity. What happened" I ask
"My foster daddy doesn't like me" she says
"What happened sweet heart? Did he hurt you" I ask
"We was home alone and I was in my room which is the attic. He picked me up and took me down to the second floor. He punched me and kicked me. I then fell down the stairs and landed on my arm. It broke. He then kept kicking me. It really hurt. He then dropped me off at the hospital and left. They asked if I wanted anyone and I told them you" she cries
"Oh sweetheart I'm so sorry" I say
"I just want to leave but I don't want to go to my foster home" she cries louder
"How about you try and get some sleep and I'll talk to the doctor" I say
She nods and drifts off to sleep. I walk out of the room and go to find the doctor. I find the doctor and go over to her.
"Did you get trinity to talk to you" she asks
"Yeah. She said it was her foster father. None of her foster family likes her very much and she was left alone with her foster father so he beat her up" I say
"Alright thank you. She's going to have to go to a new foster family then" she says
"Wait could I adopt her" I ask
"Yes but she'll have to live with a foster family until it can be finalized" she says
"Is it ok if I find the foster family. I want it to be a good foster family. One where she'll be safe" I say
"I guess but just know that it could take anywhere from a couple days to a couple months for an adoption to be finalized." She says
"Ok. Can I fill the papers out now so the process can start" I ask
"Yes" she says
She hands me a stack of papers and I go down to the cafeteria. I sit at a table and work on them for a half hour. I finish them and go back upstairs. I give them to the doctor then go outside and call Chad.
C-hey joe it's 5 in the morning what do you need
J-you know the little girl Jewel and I were talking about
C-yeah what about her
J-she's in the hospital. Her foster father abused her and is going to jail. She can no longer live with the family. I filled out forms to adopt her but she has to live with a foster family till it's finalized
C-and you want to know if we can foster her
J-yeah
C-let me wake Fallon up and we'll be right there. Does Jewel know about any of this
J-no. I'll tell her when she wakes up. I left at midnight to come here
C-alright
I hang up and wait in the waiting room for Chad and Fallon. They arrive and sit next to me.
"So what did you need" Fallon asks still not fully awake
"Sorry for waking you" I say
"It's all good what did you need" Chad asks
"Right so you guys know how we told you about Trinity. Well she got hurt and ended up here. Her foster father is going to jail and she no longer has a foster family. I signed papers to adopt her but the process takes a while. Trinity has to live with a foster family until she can live with me and Jewel. The thing is I don't want her to go to a family that might hurt her. I want her going to someone I know and that will love her. Caleb and Kelsey already have their hands full with Emmett. Alan and Brycie have their hands full with the girls. I don't want to burden Spencer or Sofie doing it since they aren't living together. And Jewel and I can't do it so you guys were the last ones who could do it but the first ones who came to mind." I say
"Alright. We'll do it. Can we meet her" Fallon asks
"Of course. I'll introduce you both to her then while you talk with her Chad and I will go talk to the doctor." I say
We go to the room and as soon as we walk in I see Trinity there crying I go over and sit in the chair.
"Hey Trinity what's wrong" I ask
"I woke up and you weren't here. I got scared" she cries
"It's ok. I'm here now. I want you to meet some friends of mine" I say
She nods her head and I motion Chad and Fallon over.
"Trinity this is Fallon and her husband Chad. Chad and I need to go talk to the doctor but Fallon will stay and talk with you" I say
"Ok" she says
Fallon sits down where I was and Chad and I go find the doctor. We find her and I tap her shoulder.
"Mr. Stamper what is it now" she asks
"I found some a couple who will foster her" I say
"Who" she asks
"This is Chad Graham. His wife Fallon is with Trinity getting to know her." I say
"Do they have room" she asks
"Yes we do." Chad says
"Alright just sign your name and she will live with you till the adoption papers are finalized" she says
Chad signs them and we thank her.
"Wait when is Trinity able to leave" I ask
"She may leave now" she says
We thank her again and go back to trinity's room. Chad and Fallon wait in the hall while I talk with her.
"Mr. Joey when can I leave" she asks
"Right now" I say
"Do I get to live with you" she asks
"Not yet. Maybe soon but for now you need to live with Chad and Fallon. Don't worry you'll still see me often" I say
"Ok" she says
I help her up then I help her get dressed.
"Can you carry me" she asks
"Of course sweetheart" I say
I pick her up and she rests her head on my shoulder. I go out to the hall and we all go outside. We go to Chad's car and I set her in the back seat.
"Later bro. I'll call tonight to check up on her. Call me if she's shy" I say
"Don't worry bro I got it" Chad says
I go to my car and get in. I get home and go inside. I go upstairs and see Jewel just waking up. I go to Katy's room and see she's still asleep. I go in and pick her up then go back to mine and Jewels room. I go in and sit in the bed next to Jewel.
"Where were you this morning" she yawns
"I was at the hospital. Trinity was there and asked for me. I got a call. And didn't want to wake you or bother Katy so she could get good sleep since it was midnight so I just went. She's not able to go back to her foster family since her foster father abused her. I signed papers to adopt her but they're going to take time to finalize so I asked Chad and Fallon if they would foster her until they went through and they agreed" I say
"Alright. How bad was she hurt" she asks
"Bruises and a few cuts. And her left arm got broken" I say
"Alright. Don't forget we have lunch with my sister and Spencer" she says
"Right" I say
"How about I take Katy and you get some sleep" she says
"No I'm good" I say
"Come on joe you only had two hours of sleep" she says
"I'm fine. Come on let's go out for breakfast. My brothers want to spend some time with me and Katy before Kenny leaves" I say
"Isn't he staying for Christmas" Jewel asks
"No he decided to leave tomorrow" I say
"Oh ok" she says
I leave and go to Katy's nursery while Jewel gets ready. I change her diaper and put her in a onesie that says "this princess is guarded by three big brothers".
