After Fury introduced them, he left the room and the group fanned out across the lab. Rogers and Banner made conversation with Susan while Natasha and Clint chatted amongst themselves. I always heard rumors that there was something between those two. Tony came towards me with a smirk plastered on his face. I hopped out of my chair almost falling in the process. My cheeks flushed red from embarrassment. I flattened my skirt and when I looked up there was Stark. I smiled.
“Hello Mr. Stark.”
I greeted him.
“That was quite a show you put on in that diner.”
I smiled and looked down. My cheeks were burning. I was seriously hoping that he wouldn’t recognize me. I managed to mutter a thank you before I looked up at him again. He stood nine inches taller than me, which made me feel shorter than I was. Stubble covered his lower jaw. It was lighter than the hair on his head but I could tell that if he grew it out it would be darker. His hair was styled back and was different shades of brown and black. He wore a plain black t-shirt and jeans with basic sneakers. The arc reactor shone through the shirt, creating little blue triangles with a circle in the middle. I raised my hand to it and looked up at Tony.
“May I?”
I asked. He nodded and I traced the triangles with my finger. I looked back up at him and smiled.
“That’s very cool.”
He chuckled which caused me to giggle.
“So does this pretty face have a name?”
He asked me. I thought my cheeks couldn’t get any hotter but I was proved wrong. I straightened my posture and looked at him.
“Cera. Cera Walker.”
I answered him. He smiled and that’s when Steve butted in.
“Hello Miss Walker. You look very lovely.”
He said holding out his hand. I shook it and responded.
“Good afternoon Mr. Rogers. Thank you.”
I said with a little more confidence than when I had greeted Tony. Tony almost looked annoyed with Steve. Like he had stolen his thunder.
“Please call me Steve. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
“Well Steve, it’s a pleasure to meet you too.”
He smiled and moved in front of me. Tony had walked away by now and was now teasing Natasha and Clint. I took a good look at Rogers as he talked to me. He was even taller than Tony, about six foot. His hair was blonde with brown here and there and was carefully styled. Unlike Tony, he was clean shaven. He wore a blue plaid shirt with tan dress pants and brown shoes. He had a black belt around his waist. He seemed to have adapted nicely to modern times but still showed hints of his war time attributes. He was most polite man I’d ever met. He was built like he’d spent hours upon hours continuously working out at a gym, but if I wasn’t mistaken, he is the product of a successful experiment conducted by Mr. Stark and Dr. Erskine. It was very fascinating how he lived after being frozen in ice for many years. I tuned back into the conversation.
“He threw this marvelous pitch. Striked him out immediately.”
Baseball. Should’ve known. He was always a baseball nut. I smiled as he continued to talk about a 1920s game he attended. He was a tremendous speaker. You could hear all his words clearly and he always seemed enthusiastic. When he finished talking about the game, all I could muster was a wow. He smiled and moved next to me leaning against my lab table. His elbow was touching mine. I turned to look at him only to find that he was looking at me. Our faces only inches apart. I immediately looked away and focused on my watch. The time was 1:40. Just as the second hand clicked over Natasha called for us and we joined the group. The whole mass headed out of the lab, voices booming and laughing amongst each other. Steve was walking next to me and Susan was on my other side. My hand kept sweeping across Steve’s as I talked with Susan.
