C1. Shifting?

Thea's POV

My life hasn't been the best. Having relatively popular parents who both happen to be werewolves means that when it comes to me I'm practically a ghost. Why you way ask? Well that's simple. Because I haven't shifted. It's extremely rare for a female to be a wolf, so my parents aren't expecting me to be one. The alpha of our pack, Alpha Caden just so happens to be the newly crowned king of wolves. He has every single female (except me and two friends) hanging off him all day. The weird thing is, he doesn't take any notice of the girls who are always around him. In fact he doesn't notice any of us. What everyone doesn't expect is that one female in the pack will change his life forever.

"Thea! Your friends are here." I bound out of my desk chair and sprint down stairs. I haven't seen my friends in two weeks cause we have all been busy studying for our exams. Slowing down to a walk I head into the lounge room where my two best friends Savanna and Titania are waiting.

"It's so good to see you girls." I say hugging them. "It feels like it's been years." We sit down and talk about random stuff.

"So, exited about your birthday." I smile but shrug. "Common you have to be. It's your 17th."

"Look Sav. I guess I am but it's not like I'll be shifting. If I was, I would have done that last year." I say and they fall quiet. For a long time it's silent . Finally Titania breaks the silence.

"You could just be a late shifter. But then again it is rare." I smile slightly at her and my mum walks in.

"You should head off to bed Thea. Your birthdays tomorrow. We don't want you falling asleep half way through the day." I laugh and say good night to everyone heading upstairs to my room. I have a shower and wash my hair before changing and heading off to bed. I lie down under the covers and stare out the window. Closing my eyes I drift off to sleep with ease.

Sitting up in fright hen a clap of thunder goes off, I rub my eyes and groan. What a wonderful birthday this is going to be. I look at the time and notice it's 4 in the morning. I lie back down and try to get back to sleep, but every bone and muscle in my body feels like it's breaking. I get out of bed and head down stairs occasionally wincing in pain. I make it to the kitchen and grab something to drink. I out the cup on the sink and hold onto the bench for support. What the he'll is happening? The pain increases and I can't help but scream in pain. I no time what so ever my parents are standing beside me rubbing my back as I lie on the floor in pain. My bones start breaking and rearranging and my parents step back. I look at them confused and then I black out.

I open my eyes and see my parents and my best friends standing in the kitchen looking down on me. I stand up looking down at the ground. I go to scream but in stead it comes out as a howl. Instead of standing on human feet I'm standing on four paws. Four white paws to be exact. I look up with terrified and confused eyes. Savanna throws a pair of clothes at me and I walk out shifting back and putting the clothes of.

"WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED!?" I scream and we head over to the lounge room sitting down. "Did you guys know or?" My mum shakes her head and I put my hands to my temples rubbing them trying to process what just happened. "Tell me what colour I am." I say and this time Savanna speaks.

"Thea. Your white with a faint black strip down your back. No wolf is your colour, that's why we are all still shocked." I look up when someone knocks on the door. Mum stands up and walks out of the lounge room. We hear her talking to someone before she walks back in with five small pieces of paper.

"Caden's birthday is tomorrow. He wants EVERYONE to attend." I shake my head when she hands me the invitation.

"I'm not going. Not now not ever. I'm staying in this house until I die." Savanna and Titania look at me and burst out laughing. "This isn't funny girls." I growl and they stop. They stare at me in shock and I just sit there. The only wolf powerful enough to stop someone from laughing is Alpha Caden.

"Ok this got more wierd. How did you do that?" My father asks and I shrug. I apologies to the girls before heading up stairs to my room. This is so messed up. I think to myself. I walk over to the window and sit on the ledge. I stay there for what must have been 3 hours before my mum walks up with a plate of food.

"The girls have gone home and I thought you might be hungry." I nod and she sits opposite me placing the plate in front of me. "I know this is a shock for you Thea, but you have to come to the party. People will start to suspect something if you do t show up." I sigh and look at her.

"I'll go, but don't expect me to enjoy myself." Say and she smiles, hugging me. She gets up and leaves taking the now empty plate with her. I say good night to her and continue to stare out the window. P I stand up and walk into the bathroom. Stripping down to nothing, I shift into my wolf. I look into the full body mirror and sigh. I lie down putting my head on my paws. I continue to stare into the mirror. I didn't even hear the door open until Titania walks in. She sits next to me and I look up at her.

"This must be really hard for you. You know what I said about you being a late shifter was a joke. I didn't intend this to happen." I nod my head and stand up grab I g my clothes. I walk into the bedroom shift and put my clothes back in. I walk back into the bathroom and let my hair down brushing it.

"I know you were only joking. My main fear is that I feel like I'm going to loose you and Sav because of this. Titania, I don't even want to know who my mate is because of the type of wolf I am." She stands up and hugs me.

"I brought this over for you to wear tomorrow." She hands me a beautiful dress that goes to my feet.

"Titania, you shouldn't have." I take it hugging her once more. I hang it up in my wardrobe keeping it crease free.

"I know I didn't have to, but I wanted to do something to make you happy. I hope this has done it." I smile at her nodding. "Well o better let you get some sleep. See you tomorrow." She heads over to the door before stopping. "Oh and Sav and I are coming over here to get ready."

"Ok I'll see you then." I say goodnight and see her out. Walking back up to my room I shut the door, change and crawl into bed. I didn't know how tired I was until my head met the pillow. In an instant I have fallen asleep.
