Jessica
I stepped foot into the lobby of Stellar Agency. It was Friday and it's been 3 days since the whole best friend ditching me fiasco. Seth hasn't made any contact whatsoever through those 3 passing days. I mainly spent my time in the SIA gym bonding with Liz and Tanner. At the moment, I feel like I'd rather hang out with them for now. I know I may sound bitter and overly jealous, but I can't help it if Seth's girlfriend in a lying manipulative cow. Honestly he could find someone else that's so much better.
That someone being you? My inner voice hinted. I ignored it.
Realizing that I had to scan my id card to enter the main hall, Tanner came in shortly.
"Hey Jess," he said with a smile.
"Hey Tanner, where's Liz?" I asked him but not before giving him a friendly hug.
"Oh, she was right behind me awhile ago," he replied with a confused frown etched on his face.
I snorted a laugh. Leave it to Tanner to loose his twin so easily.
Nevertheless he shrugged it off and casually threw his arm around my shoulders leading us into the main hall. In response I wrapped an arm around his waist. It felt nice having him close because of the friendly warmth he produced.
"So, when do I get to meet this Seth guy who managed to capture little Jess's heart?" teased Tanner.
I rolled my eyes playfully and told him, "Not sure, I haven't really talked to him ever since Tuesday."
Tanner frowned, concern flooding on his face, "Really? Wow what a jerk."
I sighed, "Well I'm sure he had something important to do on those days."
Yeah, keep telling yourself that Jess. It's pretty obvious he'd rather spend time with Skylar, the annoying voice inside of me declared rather smugly.
Shut up will you, I thought annoyingly.
"Come on," I told Tanner. "Let's head to the training gym."
We walked together a few more steps until we bumped into he who shall not be named.
No, it wasn't Voldemort. It was Seth.
Seth's eyebrows shot up in surprise as if he was not expecting to see me.
He gave me a simple smile and said, "Hey Jess, where've you been? I haven't seen you in a while!"
EXCUSE ME. I raised my brows at him with an are you serious right now look. Haven't seen me in a while? He's acting like I was the one who practically disappeared off the face of the planet. I sent him so many texts and voicemails the past few days and you know what reply I got? None.
I didn't want to argue with him especially at Stellar Agency. This wasn't the time or the place to talk about it.
"Oh you know, making some new friends. Ones who actually want to spend time with me," I replied rather icily.
Seth's eyes widen and he looked at me apologetically.
"Look Jess if this is about Tuesday I'm sorry, okay? It's just that Skylar came back and I just wanted to take her out somwh-"
"It's fine," I said, cutting him off.
Tanner, who I completely forgot was there, squeezed my shoulder reassuringly. I looked up at him, giving him a thankful smile.
Seth, who took note of the affectionate action, slightly narrowed his eyes at Tanner.
"Who's this?" he asked. Slight jealousy burned in his eyes as he stares at the arm belonging to Tanner around my shoulder. Maybe I was just imagining it though.
I frowned at his sudden attitude of protectiveness and said, "Seth this is Tanner, Tanner this is Seth."
Tanner's brown eyes flashed in surprise and understanding. He removed the hand that was over my shoulder to shake Seth's.
"It's a pleasure to meet you dude," said Tanner.
"You too," Seth replied in a less friendly manner.
An awkward silence fell upon us three.
"Well then, it's nice seeing you again Seth but we have to go train...Bye," I said to Seth as I begin to drag Tanner towards the gym doors.
"Wait Jess! I thought we were going to train today?" Seth asked looking rather disappointed.
I grimaced at his sad expression but I forced myself to not give in. "Sorry, but Shirley put Tanner and I on the same team for the mission so it would only be ideal to train together with him. We have been for the past 3 days now."
A guilty look spread across his handsome face and I had to muster up all my willpower not to jump into his arms and say that I'll go with him. But I couldn't. My pride wouldn't let me and I felt as if I needed some time and space in order to forgive him fully. The more I let him get to me the more I'll end up getting hurt. And I've already been hurt too much to the point where I can break any second.
I gave him an apologetic look and told him, "Maybe next week, okay?" Whoa Jessica, Deja vu much?
I turned away from him pulling Tanner along with me inside; leaving my Seth with a crestfallen look cascaded on his face.
I'm a horrible person.
