It was a long...Dreadful night. Maka stared at the ceiling as a small tear slid down her soft cheek. She hated crying in public, so now that she was alone, she could just let it all out. She attempted to keep the whimpering down to a low level, that way Soul didn't hear her, but it was a difficult thing for her to do. She hadn't cried this hard in awhile...
Maka buried her face into her pillow, attempting to drown out the pained sounds she was making. Listening to herself was painful just by itself. But the feeling in her chest...It was just terrible. Glancing over at her closet, she trembled, trying not to wake Soul up. But sure enough, ten minutes after she had started crying, Soul opened the door to her room. Maka tried to stop sniffling...To stop whining; but it didn't help.
Soul hurried over and climbed onto her bed, pulling Maka up into his arms, giving her a comforting hug as he pressed his lips against her soft, blonde hair. He didn't speak for awhile...He just sat there and rocked back and forth with her, trying to calm her down. Finally, he spoke.
"Maka...How long have you been crying?"
The seemingly broken girl shook his head against his chest, unable to reply for a couple of seconds.
"I...It's only been a couple of minutes..."
"Well, it must have been pretty bad. That's all I could hear from my room and my door was closed." He said with a sigh, letting his fingers run up and down Maka's arm soothingly.
Soul pulled Maka closer, closing his eyes as his cheek touched the top of her head. He was tired... But he couldn't let Maka be alone when she was like this. Maka may have been the top of her class, but she usually became reckless and stupid when she felt hopeless to the rest of the world.
Soul listened to Maka's breathing. It seemed to settle down after five minutes of him being there. It was a good thing he heard her....He would have hated for the poor girl to be alone in her time of need.
"Maka...You know when something's bothering you...You can tell me," He said with a nod, carefully laying the girl back down onto her pillow. Maka merely nodded, brushing the tears away with her fingers. She didn't want to cry anymore. She wanted to be strong....

"Do you think you can sleep now?"
Maka forced a smile onto her face and nodded, cuddling up under the covers. She wasn't crying just for the fun of it. Something was wrong....very, very wrong.
Maka had seen the very premonition of her death.
CHAPTER 1
The darkness would consume her. She would lay there...helpless and unknowing. Suddenly, something would appear out of the corner of her eye, leaving her frozen in fear. The very thought of moving was paralyzing.
The room would drop at least thirty degrees and swallow her in this iceberg. She was lost...scared...
And then she would see it...Madness itself. The very demon that possessed her and Soul both. He would walk closer...closer...closer.
And then he would strike her with a smirk on his face.
Every time Maka closed her eyes, she would see that dream and it felt so real. She would feel the pain of the stab... But, she couldn't figure out what she was being hit with.
Soul didn't know about the dream. No, he was oblivious to the whole thing. But now he had some sort of an idea that she was scared.
Maka knew she should have kept quiet last night, but being quiet is a difficult thing to do when you feel alone and lost.
