Chapter 3: Your Choices
"Yep! You're all fine to take the Entrance Exam!" I sighed in relief as the cleric healed up the last of my wounds. A green light surrounded my whole body, feeling a tingling sensation rush through my back. I felt like I was alive again.
Over the past week, I've been resting in the nurse's office as the professional clerics checked up on me every once a few hours. Taking medicines, replacing IVs, resting-- and it was finally the day of the Entrance Exam.
I could feel my heart beating quickler and faster in nervousness. The words still haunts me from a week ago.
"How about the highest score? I won't accept anymore than that."
Can I really reach that goal? Why did I have to accept the proposal? Forget coming into Bellum Academy, I'm going to die!
"Excuse me, can I come in?" Swiveling my chair, I looked to see a familiar red haired. He scratched his head, still wearing the worn out professor's coat. I
"Yes, Watari-san!" The cleric bowed quickly, moving out of the room quickly. "Please take your time!"
The cleric left, leaving me and my father alone in the room. The atmosphere became heavy. Since then, we have never talked face to face.
Even if we had the chance, I don't want to talk to him. I still can't accept everything.
My mother is dead, my backstabbing father was actually a caring father, and I have a strange power called Unison! And I'm at the said school that hones these powers! My whole world was a lie.
But I have to accept everything. It's the only way for me to live on.
"Yui, you don't have to do this..." He said suddenly.
"Rensuke, I can do this." He flinched.
It just feels strange to call him Father from now on. For my whole life, my father was someone I could never attain.
There are moments where I want to punch him for abandoning my mother and I, even if those memories are false. For days I had to bite back my words from badmouthing his when the doctors kept ranting about his great achievement. I almost punched a nurse that closely resembles the hideous lady too.
To prevent anymore accidents, I decided to call him by his real name from now on.
"But this exam.. It's one of the most dangerous exam you could take. If you don't show that you can Unison, there will be serious consequences."
Wearing the uniform that was given to me, I noticed it was the same exact uniform I was given in the other dimension. The only difference was the gold and white palette.
A shiver ran up my spine. Was this a coincidence? I looked at him, seeing the resemblance between him and I.
We had the same exact hair color. Other than that, we looked nothing alike. He was a former student at Bellum, as the strongest soldier, with my mother who was the strongest cleric. I have famous parents but I know nothing about them. All my memories are fake, manipulated by the monsters who trapped me for 7 years of my life.
