Lafayette was practically bouncing with joy, and he couldn't find it within him to stay still. He was simply too excited to stop moving, and he felt like Alex, the man who never stopped moving.
Besides the fact he was acting like a frog who had just snorted crack, and was dancing around the apartment with the gracefulness of a drunk rhino, Hercules was due to be back in less than five minutes.
Hercules had to leave for a week for a fashion tour, and it was wearing his energy thin, so their skype chats were short but meaningful. Still, Lafayette wished to have his beloved in his arms, even if he'd get teased about how sappy he was being. He wished to kiss the dark circles underneather Hercules' eyes away, and make all his discomforts disappear
Of course, he couldn't do this if Hercules was 1,000 miles away, so he whispered sweet nothings until Hercules fell asleep, the Frenchman falling asleep to the soft snores leaving the speakers of his phone.
Music was wafting through their apartment, and dinner was ready and hot on the table for them, as well as disney movies, chocolates, and cuddle blankets were ready for the two men on the couch after dinner.
Lafayette was currently dancing to the soft tunes coming through the well loved speakers. He was spinning and twirling, his hair flying everywhere and creating a mess of knots, but he couldn't bring himself to care about that. How could you care about the miniscule details when the most interesting man in the world was about to walk through that door?
Lafayette was so lost in his own world, he almost didn't hear the door open, or the deep voice that called "Laf? I'm home." He had never ran so fast in his life, and was barreling into his lover within seconds.
They thumped against the thankfully closed door with a loud thump, and laughs being exchanged. They were smiling so hard it was hard for each other to give them a proper kiss, but they got it right the third time, their lips molding together, and tongues eventually finding each other, relishing in the almost forgotten taste.
"Calm down there Laf. Jeez, are you excited to see me, or are you trying to give me a concussion?" Hercules asked, and Lafayette practically drank it in, finding the real version much better than the computery and laggy one he had been hearing for the last week.
"Oiu my amour, very excited to see you. I missed you so much." Was the taller man's response as Hercules dropped his suit cases on the ground by the door, kicking his shoes off near the pile of other shoes.
"I missed you too Laf. You have no idea." The two men hugged, Lafayette holding the smaller man to his chest protectively, and Hercules leaning into the touch happily.
"I'm free for the rest of December and New Years. I can work from home and the studio." That was the best news Laf had heard since he had learned that Hercules was coming back today. Lafayette was personally an EMT, but would be working the night shifts for a majority of the month, and would be free Christmas eve through the twenty seventh. That would be three days break. Sweet.
"That's great. Now dinner is ready, let's eat before it gets... Uh... What is the word for not warm?" Despite Lafayette living in America for over five years, he still had a hard time remembering some words.
"It's cold Laf. Now let's eat. I'm starving." They enjoyed a nice dinner, laughing and talking, with Hercules sharing his near disastrous in the fashion show. There were only three, and they were make-up and hair malfunctions. Thankfully no wardrobe problems, or that could potentially ruin Hercules in the fashion industry.
After dinner, Lafayette led the tired man into the TV room, after changing into their pajamas of course, where the cuddle blankets were ready to be used, and Disney movies were waiting.
"You're the best Lafayette." Lafayette replied with a smug grin. "I know." The Frenchman popped in a movie, before joining his boyfriend on the couch, and snuggling closer.
Mulan was playing on the screen, but neither of them were very interested in it, although they did sing under their breath whenever a song came up in the movie.
They were too busy cuddling, and basking in each others' presence. Even after a week, they missed each other so much that they felt the need to stare at each other to file them away into memory again. A week seemed so small, only seven days, 168 hours, 10,080 minutes, and 604,800 seconds, slowly ticking away. It was torture for them.
So they stayed there until they finally gave into sleep, not even bothering to head to their actual bed. It was too warm in the TV room, and neither of them had enough energy to move. They would regret the lack of neck and back support in the morning, but nothing a few Advil couldn't clear up.
"You know Herc, your eyes get warmer the sleepier you are." It was true. The more tired Hercules got, the more the caramel color came out in them, and flecks of gold could be seen, as if you were staring too hard before to notice them. You simply overlooked them.
"Really?" Hercules' voice was deep and raspy, though it still flowed like gold over Lafayette's ears. If it was from Hercules, it was perfect, because Hercules is perfect, thus meaning anything from Hercules must be perfect by logical thinking.
"Yes. It's very cute mon amour." Hercules' lips twisted upwards at being called 'mon amour'. After three years of being together, the nicknames they gave each other stuck. Hercules' nice name was 'mon amour', or simply 'amour'. Lafayette's nicknames included 'French fry', and 'My little croissant'.
"Mhh... I'm gonna fall asleep."
"Me too Herc... Should we move off of the couch?"
"Nah, that takes too much effort." That was the end of their limited conversation, and the silence that settled over them wasn't awkward, it was thoroughly welcome, and felt like a warm blanket was being wrapped around them on a snowy day.
Hercules was home and all was good in the Mulligan house. They agreed if they ever got married they would keep Hercules' last name. Much easier than his extensive name. Everything was fantastic. They were satisfied.
