Rain, Rain, Go away
Come again another day *****************************************************************************************
"Rain, come on," her mother yelled from the kitchen. "You can't stay up there forever. Besides, Mr. Watkins has a present for you." "What is it this time?" Mr. Watkins, Rain's neighbor, is a quiet, easygoing man. Every time she sees him, he gives her a watch. But something about him gives her an uneasy feeling... "Hello Rain," Mr. Watkins whispered behind her back. "When in the hell did he come in," Rain said under her breath. "Happy Birthday. I have a present for you, but come back later for your special present." Wow, a watch. Another fucking watch.
But then, it rained. Cats and dogs, elephants, and for 40 days and nights. Everywhere were people searching for coats, kids, and keys, promising to come back later. Then stormed in a livid child. "I HATE THIS," she screamed as she pulled on her coat and grabbed her umbrella. "Why does this happen to me! All I wanted was a day to myself, but this goddamned rain ruined it all!" She slammed the door shut, leaving a silently confused
mother with 20 party guests, hanging on to every word.
As she walked around the neighborhood looking for something to do, she looked at her watch. "Really," she muttered, All it said was Time. "Time for what?" She decided to go by Mr. Watkins's house and see what else he has for her. She walked up to the door, but before she rang the doorbell, he opened it. "Well, look who it is," he said in his whispery voice."It's the birthday girl. Why don't you come inside and sit down while I go get you your present." She walked in slowly and hesitantly. He gestured her to sit down in the chair. " I'll be right back," he said while he walked into the back room.
Rain decided to look at her watch to see how long she stayed there. But when she read it, tears began to run down her cheeks. "So, 15 huh," she heard him say. But the thing that upset her more was the words. All it said was TIME TO DIE. She looked up to Mr. Watkins, the quiet, easygoing man she thought she knew, holding a butcher knife in his hand.
As he cut her, she heard a familiar song, the one that the kids sang while they were in school.
RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY
DON'T COME BACK EVER AGAIN
Goodnight Rain
