The sun had set 3 hours ago and everyone knew that it was dangerous to be out at this time. However, the dangers of the night never bothered the young raven-haired woman.

Bridget was not a disobedient child, but she couldn't help the fact that she loved to read under the willow tree, which was located not far outside the large gates, surrounding the large city.

She came there frequently and always left unharmed. Unfortunately, unknowns to her, this time would be different.

Bridget's POV

In the Kingdom of Diantros (Dye-An-Tros)

There are 2 regions, The Lula region, ruled by the Edmund family, and the Celestine region, ruled by the Aelius family. These two lords are rulers of their region. However its the King who rules them all.

My eyes scanned the pages of the book that had completely captured my soul, body, and mind.

The Lunar Tome.

This book contained all the answers in the known world. Right now I was in the chapter of current history. In Diantros, we were indeed ruled by the king and his 2 lords. However, the Tome had taught me that's not how it always was.

"BRIDGET!!" A loud, sharp and familiar yell interrupted my thoughts. I immediately look at the sky to see a beautiful full moon which seemed to be up for quite awhile now. I could've sworn it was mid-afternoon only minutes ago!

Looking up at the moon at that moment, something about it right there and then, was very mesmerizing. Like it was calling me to-

"BRIDGET!" The call came again,

Coming back to my senses, I hid the book I was reading as a reflex and peeled my eyes away from the glowing beauty in the sky as I turned to look behind me only to discover a very familiar and angry face was glaring at me.

"DO YOU EVEN KNOW HOW LONG I WAS LOOKING FOR YOU!?!?!", Anna practically screamed at the top of her lungs. This girl yelling at me is my sister, Anna. She had long brown curly hair and striking emerald green eyes. She was wearing a plain yellow dress, which she still looked fabulous in. She was by far the prettiest girl in our city, and also the most envied.

Panic etched across my face when I realized that she had been screaming.

"SHHH! Do you want to get us killed?!?!" I whisper-yelled to her. Immediately she realized what she had done and quickly covered mouth with both hands. I sighed at her antics. I recalled a line from the book I adored.

Chapter 14, Line 166 in the Lunar Tome

"Beware of the Monsters that lurk beyond the protection of your walls. Shadow Walkers are creatures who know not to hesitate when they see prey, ready to rip them apart piece by piece.

They are creatures made by the darkness, the darkness which was created by the hatred plaguing this land. My only advice to those who do not know how to defend themselves is to run."

I narrowed my eyes and just sighed once again, as I remembered those words. It was highly unlikely that those creatures would find us, but I couldn't help but be afraid. Not afraid of the deadly beast, but for Anna and her loud mouth.

I looked back at Anna to see her looking around in panic.

"Don't worry," I whisper to reassure her, "I think we're close too close to the wall to run into them anyway."

"You don't know that! I heard that monster attacks have been getting more frequent as of late." She whispers to me, her voice coated with worry. "I can't let them slander my beautiful face!!"

"Calm down Anna...And their not monsters their Shadow walke-" I cut myself off. Great. Now I'm definitely getting an earful from her.

"Shadow walkers?" Her once confused eyes widened with realization. "No Bridget, No! I can't believe you're reading that book again!" She whisper-yelled. "After what happened last time you were almost caught with it? It's illegal for a reason!"

"But I wasn't caught," I say trying to argue with her.

"No buts you promised! You said you would never read it again if I helped you hide it that day when the sentinels came. Hearing about your book may I remind you! And just because you weren't apprehended that time doesn't mean you won't be this time!" Her green eyes stricken with worry for my well-being.

3 weeks ago the sentinels came to arrest whoever they heard was in possession of the book, Anna had helped me hide the Tome. We got away with just in time and weren't caught. But it came with a price. The sentinels are known for their lack of empathy towards an accused family. They turned our house upside down looking for the book. It was one heck of a mess to clean up.

I closed my eyes, hardening my resolve and looked by up to her.

"I just can't help it! Anna, this world isn't what it seems. And this book here proves it! It told me how our kingdom truly came to be! How the king is the cause of all these Shadow-walkers crawling about...It told me the true history of Diantros!" I argued a look of determination on my features. "This is the reason why the book isn't allowed! They're trying to hide the truth."

Anna sighed.

"What am I going to do with you?" She looked me right in the eye, an unnaturally serious look on her face. "So what?"

Her question confused me.

"What do you mean?" I questioned, voicing my thoughts.

"So what? What are you going to do with this knowledge? No sorry, What are you even capable of doing with this knowledge? If you try telling people, they won't believe you! Then you'll end up dead with a sentient blade sticking through your chest. If you try to fight the king yourself, which by the way is the stupidest thing I have ever heard, there's no way you'd get past his army alive. You'd have to be some sort of assassin! So tell me, Bridget, what are you going to do?"

"I-,"My sentence was cut off by some inhumane growling coming from behind us.
