In the forest of Magnolia sat a small cottage. It was a humble looking home with a vegetable and herb garden in the back, and sweet smelling flowers as far as the eye could see. The trees were dense and hid the sky from the woman who sat on the covered porch. Sage and sandalwood hung from the railing, and the few pieces of furniture were draped in earth tone clothes. On a large deep purple cushion the woman sat, an elegant pipe between her slim fingers. Her skin was golden bronze, her long fall of deep brown hair was pilled onto the back of her head, what looked like a slim twig holding it in place. Her violet eyes studied the woods in front of her home, like she was looking for something. She wore a long layered skirt in various shades of brown and gold, and a simple deep brown top crossed her chest, showing the blue jewel at her navel.
"You look very focused for so early in the morning Cana," Came a teasing tone from behind her.
Cana grinned as she tilted her head back to study her companion upside down. Even at this angle she found her as gorgeous as when they first met. A mane of deep blue hair was knotted into a curly mass over her shoulder, a matching blue eyebrow was arched over fathomless ocean blue eyes. She wore a long deep green dress that showed off her pale arms, each bicep wore silver bands that matched Canas silver ankle bangles. The woman had a basket of herbs braced on her hip and her hands were dirty.
"We have a guest coming Juvia."
"Oh? Mr.Dreyer shouldn't be coming for his medicine for another week." Juvia mused, setting the basket just inside the door.
Cana chuckled as she took her hand, pulling the other woman into her lap. "No my water Lilly, we've never met them. They are going to bring some excitement with them."
"Oh! Will they be staying?"
Cana hummed in thought, "I'm not sure. We will have to wait to see what he says. We still have a little bit before he does though."
Juvia nodded and pressed a quick kiss to Canas cheek, "Well, I have some ointments to make. Let me know when he gets here?"
"Of course."
Juvia got out of her lap and headed back inside while Cana turned attention back to the woods. She wasn't truly watching the trees, no, she was watching the smoke from her pipe as she took another drag from it. The smoke drifted, and though there was a slight breeze, it formed into a perfect circle in front of her. Her guest was closer than she thought, small as he was she expected for him to take longer to reach them.
As he passed a large oak tree at the edge of their land, Cana stood and the smoke dissipated. The walked down the three small steps of their porch and into the grass, her bare toes wiggling into the dirt as she stood with her arms crossed. She could hear the rustle of bushes and grass as he got closer, until finally, he stepped into the small clearing.
He was young, she would guess nine at the oldest, his short black hair was choppy, like he had cut it himself. The most vivid crimson ruby she had ever seen stared at her underneath furrowed eyebrows, though he quickly hid his confusion at her meeting him there. He was thin, too thin, his baggy clothes hanging off of his gangly frame. Juvia will make sure he eats. He was dirty and was covered in scrapes as well as some bruises.
They stared at each other for long moments before the corners of Canas lips tugged up. "What's your name brat?"
The boy seemed to scowl more, if that were possible, and she had to hold back her chuckle to give him a chance to answer.
He seemed to argue with himself, about whether to stay or run? He seemed to finally have his answer as he jerked his chin up, taking a stance. "My name is Gajeel."
{WHATS UUUUPPPP! So wifey talked me into writing a sneak peek for this. Its still under some major development but I had to get it out there. Please do not ask for updates, and this title may be subject to change.}
