The bell rang, and the students beginning to gather their things and head out the door. Sion was the first person up, quickly stuffing his things inside of his book bag; science was his least favorite class , and he couldn't wait to be out of there. The unfamiliar pencil laying stilling on his desk caught his attention. He wonder why he was flabbergasted by the pandas in the first place, it wasn't like the unique was the only girl in the world who liked pandas. It also brother him how he thinks about a girl he never met so much.
His friend Atticus Wrights, or better known as Tic would tease him about it. He and Tic had been friends every since Sion could remember. Tic was just like the stereotype jock guy you see in every horrible teen movie about romance; blond hair, blue eyes, and charismatic. Although he wasn't dumb, he was quite the opposite, Tic was top in all his classes, and one of the best shooting guards the school had.
He was also Sion's tormentor.
Once Tic found out about Sion talking to a girl online, he would tease him endlessly about it. Of course, he never told his girlfriend, but that didn't keep Tic from making snide comments about it when they were alone. He would asks questions like, "You date online?" or "Is she hot?" and his least favorite "Dude I bet that's a guy". Somehow deep inside he didn't think the person he was talking to was a boy, and his instincts about things haven't been wrong as of yet.
He heard a subtle cough from behind him, he turned to see Mrs. Hummers standing there with her arms folded, the rest of the students already heading out the door.
"You been staring at that pencil very long Mr. Zimmers."
He looked back down at the pencil, then he remembered the girl in front of him let him borrow it, he looked over by the door and saw she was already heading outside the door.
"Got to go Mrs. H," he said, grabbing his bag and taking off after her. Mrs. Hummers smiled slightly as he took of after the girl, remembering when she was young and full of such energy.
Sion spotted the girl, she was already halfway down the hall by the time he made it out the door. He called out her name, luckily he had remembered Mrs. hummers saying it quite a few times. The girl came to a halt, he made his way towards her.
"You're Zeverly right?" Sion asked.
"Yeah," Zeverly said, a little surprised the boy even knew her name.
His lips curved upwards into a poised smile as he reached into his pocket and handed her the pencil.
"Here, I forgot to give to back after class."
"You can keep it," she said, wrinkling her pert nose, "you might need it for another class."
He nodded. "Thanks."
The silences and awkwardness grew tense in the air in that moment until Zeverly said, "Well I should get going."
"Yeah me to," Sion told her. "Thanks again."
Zeverly nodded and walked away, he couldn't help but think how that was the most he every heard the girl say before. He knew a few things about Zeverly; she was an honor student, and the class Victorian. He had seen her a few times outside the classroom, he would see her with her rambunctious friend Mahogany who one of the teams cheerleaders. Only during those times he would see her smiling and talking. In class, she was usually quiet, and only talked when called upon on.
The vibration of his phone against his thigh snapped him from his thoughts, he opened his phone to see an icon chat message from Minnie. He and unique would use pen names sometimes, her was Minnie and his was Raymond. He double-clicked it and read the text, smiling to himself as he walked to his locker. They were still playing the you ask me a question game, and now it was his turn. He absentmindedly tapped his thumb against the keypad on his phone. He was thinking of a good question to ask her.
