Everyday Carl would come and check on me, along with Hershel. Beth, however, wasn't allowed. Since I had been in the infected area. Carl would come and tell me about who was sick and how he was stuck in a room full of kids and old people. I would laugh as he explained his days in detail. My own days were nothing but being stuck in a cell trying to heal. But finally came the day when Daryl brought me my new best friend. My leg prosthetic.

"Well, here it is." Daryl said walking in my cell. "Really? Oh my gosh! Thanks!" I smiled to him happy that he found one. I sat on the edge of the bed as Hershel came in to help me put it on. "Now it'll be a little uncomfortable at first. But after you heal all the way it'll be more comfortable." he said strapping it on my leg.

"Come on." he grabbed my arm to help stand me up. It was so weird standing on my own again. I leaned backwards losing my balance. But Hershel grabbed me before I went down. "Were gonna move you with Carl." Hershel told me as I took my first few steps. "What?" I asked him confused. "Rick thinks that it'll be best if you stay with him." He explained to me. "When?" I asked him. He looked at me as I stopped to face him. "Now, I'm taking you there now." he said as he helped me walk down the hall. "I'll come back and get your things and bring them to you, ok?" he asked and I nodded to him. I was going to be staying with Carl.

We made it to the cell block Carl and the uninfected had been staying in and Hershel left me on Carl's bed. I looked around at the cell and suddenly I got nervous. This was gonna be awkward. I sat thinking on his bed when came Mika came to the door. "Does it hurt?" she asked knocking me out of my trance. "Well yea. Sometimes I can feel my toes wiggle. Or my foot moving." I told her grabbing my knee. She came and sat down next to me and look at the fake leg on my own. They only cut just above my ankle. "Did you feel it when they cut it off?" I had to admit her questions kept getting more and more stressful. All the memories of the bone cracking and the walker biting me. "I... Umm." I stopped when Carl appeared at the door. Mika looking at him then to me before she got up and left.

"You okay?" he asked sitting down next to me. "Yeah I'm fine." I smiled to him. "So I see Daryl gave you your..." he stopped and scratched the back of his neck. "Leg?" I finished his sentence. "Uh yeah.. leg." He gave me a small smile and I laughed. "I know that's weird saying that but it is what it is." I told him as he looked awkwardly away. He stood up and said "I'm gonna go make sure everyone is in bed." he looked at me and left.

I sighed and took my prosthetic off. I got under the covers and closed my eyes, remembering all the times I had my foot. All the times I could run free. All the times I would run away from a herd of walkers with Rufus by my side. His ears flopping and his hair bouncing. His golden eyes looking in my eyes. I wiped a tear away as Carl walked back in.

I sat up leaning on my elbow as I watched him. He took his hat off, then he took his boots off. He looked at me and I smiled. "I can sleep on the top." he told me as he pointed up to the bunk above me. "No! I mean sleep with me." I tried to make it sound like I really wanted him to sleep with me in a tiny bed, but I really did. He chuckled and took off his plaid shirt and my eyes went to his chest as he looked for another shirt. "Stop." he stopped to look at me confused. " just lay down." I told him scooting over. He walked slowly over to me and got in beside me.

I looked his chest over when I saw a scar on the right side of his stomach. I snuggled close to him laying my head on his chest. My fingers finding their way over to the scar. "What happened?" I asked him as he laid is head on the pillow. He took a breath before he answered me. "I got shot." he said rubbing my hair. "By who?" I looked up at him innocently. His eyes met mine. "His name was Otis. He was helping  Hershel on his farm. When the group was looking for Sophia, Carols daughter, I saw this deer. It was amazing to see something living and peaceful. I went up to it and at the same time Otis was shooting the deer and the bullet went through it and hit me." he explained still looking in my eyes. "You could have died." I told him as my eyes started to water. He didn't say anything. I leaned up and placed my lips on his. "Goodnight." he said as I pulled away and laid my head back on his chest. "Goodnight" I murmured to him as I fell asleep.

************

I had woken up and Carl wasn't beside me. I got up and put my prosthetic on and walked out of the cell. I rubbed my eyes as the sun beamed inside the prison from the windows.  I yawned as I walked through the cell block. I stopped to adjust my leg piece when I heard something. I stopped and stood straight up. I looked around and then turned to look down the cell block. I froze.

Walking through the cell block was nothing other than, a walker. I had froze in my spot as I watched it come after me. I couldn't move. Time had slowed down and my heartbeat picked up. I was once again meeting with a killer. He reached and grabbed me as we fell in slow motion to the floor. I was looking into it's eyes the whole time. I had given up. My scars once again had opened up.
